To be honest, when I first started listening to this audio, I wasn't a fan. I didn't think I was going to make it through and I hate giving up on books. But about 20ish% in, I was hooked. And now I am DYING to know what happens next! The narrator did a great job. He was a quick reader. Normally, I listen to books pretty close to double time. This one, I could barely put it up to x.10. And I found myself rewinding a lot. I didn't want to miss any important details. So it took me longer than it should have to finish it. But I'm sure that more my wandering mind than this book. I am very curious to see what happens next.

This was the first book I've read/listened to by Gregory Kontaxis. After finishing, I went searching for more information on this series and author. This appears to be his first book and is the first part of his planned pentalogy, “The Dance of Light”. I loved the medieval aspect of this book. The fantasy aspect stretches me. Where some say Game of Thones, I saw some Lord of the Rings/The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe. Of course that's my experience with fantasy. It was quite the adventure for Elliot. I loved the lesson he needed to learn. I look forward to more of this series.

Guy Barnes is an excellent narrator. He had a huge cast to voice. While some may not be my favorite, I have great respect for his talent.

I enjoyed this diversion from my normal genre

This was a decent fantasy book. It was heavy on the politics and war talk and I think that is where it lost me a little but if you love that in a book then absolutely check this book out. Solid 3 star read for me.

I have to admit the story did start a bit too slow, and I was lost for a bit, but after the 2nd time in a row I got it and it's actually a really good book. and with that ending, I can't wait for the next book. I'm kinda excited.

This book is not for me. I am a little lost and was not able to follow the story. Guy did an excellent job at narrating.

This is the first book in The Dance of Light series. This is also my first Gregory Kontaxis book. This book is very interesting. I am very interested to see where the storyline will end up. Guy Barnes did a great job narrating this book.

Slow but after a bit it really drew me in once I got the gist of what is going on. I like the vibe of the characters and the midevil lore plus those mythical creatures. That is right up my aisle. This really seems like Elliot’s story and all those he comes to help or in contact with. I liked his growth and determination as well as how unassuming he is. There are secrets, traitors and surprises throughout.

I listened to this on audio. Guy Barnes is the narrator. He does a good job but at times it was outstanding and others I struggled with the voice he was using. He does have a large cast to voice. I felt he goes go over and above as a vocalist (his centaur vocal are amazing!). I would listen to him again.

The narrator is amazing!

So I think this story has a lot of potential but especially on audio, it's just too much to take in at once. The ebook has an index of characters and maps but on audio it was far too much to keep straight in my head. I didn't love the narrator's female voices and he also barely paused between sections so it was hard to tell when the scene was shifting.

I finished the book reading on Kindle and overall it's a good story but felt like a surface skimmed version of many epic fantasies I've read. I'd like to keep reading to see what happens though for sure since it ended on an interesting note and I love anything with a pegasus!

Good premise
