About this listen

In this new novella by Richard McCrohan, novelist Jonathan York is flying back to his hometown of Hillcrest for his 50th high school reunion. He hasn’t returned since he left for college in 1971. A long weekend of old memories and rekindled friendships is what he is warmly looking forward to. And to reunite with his old crew. But what Jonathan is going to find waiting for him is a 50-year-old dark secret and a long forgotten past that threatens to rip apart the rest of his life.

This psychological thriller has a dark and disturbing ending. it delves into the human psyche and the grey area between right and wrong. The main character John suffered from amnesia of the incident that affected himself and his friends fifty years ago. At the school reunion he finally learns about what transpired that fateful day. The Reunion Completely Blew Me AWAY! Fantastic!

When bestselling author Jonathan York’s agent bundled a book signing into the same weekend as his 50th high school reunion, Jonathan expected great book sales and a pleasant time with old friends. He could not have been more wrong… “The Reunion” is a beautifully written, brilliantly horrific, thoroughly fabulous short story. The plot and the scene setting are easy to understand and follow. The characters are all fully developed with complete backstories. I LOVE how the horror in this one snuck up on me! Mr. McCrohan, you got me good this time! The flow of this story is sooo easy, so smooth, that I was lulled into a false sense of non-horror, coasting along, getting to know these charmingly brilliant characters, then a sense of foreboding started to build. A delightfully delicious sense of foreboding! Engaged and engrossed does not begin to describe my mindset! I was so invested in this story that nothing was going to pull me away! I finished this brilliant story in one sitting! It was absolutely stunning! No spoilers! I’m giving no details! You’ll have to listen to see what I mean, and believe me, you’ll want to! The narration breathing life into THIS darkly imaginative story is perfection! No over-sensationalization, no over dramatization, just absolutely perfect timing, perfect emotional emphasis and crystal clear consistent perfection truly bring the author’s haunting vision alive! I loved “The Reunion”. Five Shivery Good Stars!

The Reunion

A novelist decides to attend his 50th class reunion, even though he hasn't kept in touch with his classmates over the years. In fact, shortly after graduation, he was involved in a serious accident and has amnesia about that event.

He soon discovers that something ominous happened during this time and he has to come to terms with that event and whether or not he can live with the guilt of his actions.

This was a fast paced psychological thriller, with just enough background to make it relatable. There are enough twists along the way to keep your interest and the ending was perfect. The narrator did a good job and added a lot to this short book. Thanks to the author/publisher/narrator for giving me the chance to give this a listen.
