About this listen

He’s in it to win it.
Until he falls under his neighbor’s spell...

Bram Larkspur’s rugged, sexy looks belie his fear of all things horrifying. But as Casper Road’s newest resident, he’s excited to join the annual Halloween decorating contest. The competition is keen, especially from six-time champion, architect Zachary Glass. But when enigmatic Zachary sparks a prank war, it’s game on—until one sizzling kiss turns these rivals into allies. Now only one thing scares Bram: how quickly he’s losing his heart to Zachary.

It’s rare that I’m just as captivated by the writing as I am the story. And when the narrator is just as great, well, it’s perfect! This entire series made my heart happy!

Roan always rocks!

This story is so much fun and a great addition to the Garnet Run series. I loved the back and forth between and how their relationship builds. It was a great way to celebrate October.
I listened to the audio version and it was so much fun.

A Haunting Relationship

I enjoy Roan Parrish work very. She doesn’t disappoint. Reading a love story makes you feel good.

Roan Parrish is one of my favorite authors. She delivers again.

Roan Parrish's books often feel like a warm cup of cocoa and a loving hug after a long, cold, bleary day. This was one of those books. Add in Greg Bordeaux's narration, and you have a charming romance read by a soothing voice.

The characters are wonderful, and it was nice to get a glimpse of some of the characters from earlier books in the Garnet Run series. You don't need to read any of the other books to catch up, but why wouldn't you? If you are looking for a romance with only a dash of angst and a cool Halloween decorating contest this is a good pick. Just don't be fooled by the descriptions of small town Wyoming. Trust me it gets cold there, don't go if you aren't from a long line of frost giants...

Good story. Good narration.

I honestly didn't care much for the characters and the plot was pretty meh. The writing was repetitive and overly flowery and honestly didn't sound like this author at all. There was no real struggle, nothing too compelling. Previous characters made cameos that felt forced. The narration was fine but not great.

Just dull

Roan Parrish's first series, Middle of Somewhere, was awesome. Garnett Run... not so much. The first two were ok, the third might have been good except Michael Dean's narration is terrible, the fourth was meh. Middle of Somewhere was well thought out with fully developed characters and Garnett Run was clearly just publisher deadline nonsense.

After moving into the neighborhood that goes all out in terms of Halloween decorating, Bram meets his neighbor, Zachary, who wins the decorating competition each year. Zachary is a bit odd; socially awkward and rigid whereas Bram is more of a dreamer. After pranking each other several times, they start hanging out. Is this an opposites attract type of situation?

This story is cute with angst and goes with the series theme of one MC majorly lacking in social skills and relationships. I won’t listen to book 3 because I don’t like the narrator (though he’s a great actor) so I cannot compare it. But this book is nowhere near as good as the first two books. The first two books were riveting and it was special to witness the inexperienced MC having the relationship and physical relationship for the first time and their partner being super patient. This book was a dialed down version of their goodness. It’s worth reading but it’s like a 3 instead of a 5 just because the first two books were so hard to live up to. The narrator is my favorite and it was easy to differentiate the MCs based on how he voiced them.

Doesn’t Rival Book 1 and 2

I really looked forward to his book. I LOVED the first 2 books, but this one was the worst of the series. Almost no character development, very little sexy encounters, and overall boring. I'm just completed disappointed.

Disappointed
