Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Maze Runner series comes The Rule of Thoughts, the exciting sequel to The Eye of Minds. Fans of the Divergent series by Veronica Roth and The Hunger Games will love the new Mortality Doctrine series.

Michael completed the Path. What he found at the end turned everything he'd ever known about his life - and the world - completely upside down. He barely survived. But it was the only way VirtNet Security knew to find the cyber-terrorist Kaine - and to make the Sleep safe for gamers once again. And the truth Michael discovered about Kaine is more complex than they anticipated, and more terrifying than even the worst of their fears.

Kaine is a tangent, a computer program that has become sentient. And Michael's completing the Path was the first stage in turning Kaine's master plan, the Mortality Doctrine, into a reality. The Mortality Doctrine will populate Earth entirely with human bodies harboring tangent minds. Any gamer who sinks into the VirtNet risks coming out with a tangent intelligence in control of their body.

And the takeover has already begun.

Excellent chapter in the trilogy

Dashner does a fantastic job of following up from the first book. The story seems a little slow in the middle of this book, but he wraps up the tale with a fantastic bang! My wife and I are enjoying the series together & are highly anticipating the conclusion. Once again Dashner is a master of keeping the reader in suspense and not allowing the ending to be guessed!

Gripping!!!

Edge of your seat and doesn't let go!!
The twist at the end had me confused but I wasn't completely shocked.

On to Book 3!!!

The mind's eye is a good book

I loved this book and it was kind of exciting at times and the plot twists I never saw coming but mad since.

Great cliff hanger

Great teen fiction. Always gives you just enough to want to know what comes next. I’m not saying it’s my favorite trilogy, but if you want something with an interesting story and amusing characters I think you’ll like it.

It's not just the game anymore now it's personal

A phenomenal follow up to the first one. What if you found out you were fake? This book certainly raises the question. Filled with action and twists and turns this book has it all that's why I gave it five stars.

Finally another book that kept my attention

I think this was a lot better than the first book. The first one wasn't bad, but I found my mind wandering in spots. This one kept my attention the whole way through. I am interested to see if the third one can continue the trend in improving this series.

easy read... my kind might have liked it more

definitely liked the maze runner series better... good but a little to fanciful when it comes to the tech and how they painted this particular dystopian society.... they searched it and over did it making it rather predictable
