About this listen

Certainly the two should never have met.

The handsome, wealthy Marquess of Rockingham was the most notorious man in London, as infamous for his violent temper as he was for his intemperate ways.

Miss Lucinda Westerville was a country vicar's daughter, as innocent as she was lovely and as proper as a young lady could possibly be. Yet when this improbably matched pair met at a glittering social ball, they had struck the dubious bargain to become man and wife - in name only. But Lucinda soon found that she had taken on more than she bargained for when she vowed not to love this untamed, infuriatingly attractive man, when she tried to rein her own foolishly galloping heart.

could have been better

the story was enjoyable and the performance excellent but it could have been better if rockingham had reformed his behavior. we are left not knowing if he will continue in his dissolute ways.

Intriguing storyline

I liked the story the narrator’s voice just makes all the women sound like whiny old women, she did the men’s voices just fine though.

Okay.

Not as good as her usual but still entertaining. The main character was a bit shrewish and annoying

Conflicting Feelings.

Spoilers!!!

The fact that the main character nearly completes sexual assault on his wife bothered me a great deal, but maybe the fact that the original copyright is 1988 might have something to do with the idea women wanted to be ravished without their permission.

However, I did find that I laughed out loud quite a bit with this audiobook.

easy listen

You know from the jump how it ends, but still a fun read. A little bodice ripping at times, but no big surprise. Also murder!

Crazy Idle Rich

This was a surprise and most entertaining book. I found myself laughing in parts. I look for another story by this author.

Just no

Story of a man that repeatedly tries to rape his wife and then they fall in love. Seriously? Seriously.

Second time was better

First time I listened I missed a lot of the mean mom and dad/unloved child issues and found the savage fellow horrible. Listening to it a second time, I picked up on so much more... a saint in the country, kind to the father, pain when Lucinda first mentioned mother love and how he went off deep end each time he was near his mother. Would have liked a more repenting husband but it seems to be implied.
