While some of these of this may seem like common sense, it is the kind of common sense that Wall Street, the government and many ordinary people seem to have forgetten about in recent years. Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Story
Growing up in London, Katherine Jegede was always searching for a philosophy to make sense of life. When she found the mind-as-creator philosophy of Neville Goddard, she thought she had found it. Falling victim to a terrible crime, however, caused Jegede to rethink everything she thought she knew. Rather than abandoning Neville's ideas, however, she discovered within them a new source of strength and fortitude. She not only rebounded from her crisis, but also used Neville's creative-mind principles to become a television presenter, something she had never before imagined possible.

Story
Why is it that we see very young people becoming millionaires these days? Or older athletes in the Olympics winning medals when people thought they didn't have a chance? And how about former senator Barack Obama running for president and being the first African American in US history to win the presidency when many thought it was impossible? It is because these individuals have learned how to use the law of attraction - they have learned how to believe something is possible, even while others don't.

Are you ready to embrace universal law and live a natural life? If there is one overall message to this book, it is that we must avoid being overwhelmed by life, to realise that there is something larger than us which is willing to shoulder the burdens. If we can live by faith instead of fear, we have found the secret door to success that she speaks of. Scovel Shinn devoted her life to helping people recognize the link between their attitudes and their level of happiness. A relaxed state of expectancy, she taught, is the best mindset for bringing success into your life.

Story
This audiobook is pragmatical, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

Story
In this "mini-book", P.T. Barnum gives practical rules that allowed him to stay out of debt and to acquire wealth. The "rules" are illustrated by homespun stories. While some of these of this may seem like common sense, it is the kind of common sense that Wall Street, the government and many ordinary people seem to have forgetten about in recent years. This is a small book but one that could have large consequences for your financial future.

Good Concepts
This book contained a lot of good tips and insights, but you have to really pay attention to catch them. Part of the problem is that it's chucked full of philosophies and concepts, but lacks direct instructions. To make matters worse, the narrator is as dry as a popcorn fart. Listen to the sample. If you think you can endure 3 hours of the monotone speaking, then more power to you. Good info for the price, but it's not going to make or break your future. Good luck!

Solid Book
This is a solid book that definitely teaches me a lot when I listen to it over and over again.
The voiceover is the only reason I put 4/5 stars.
The one thing I got from reading this is the need to do every action efficiently. That is more important than rushing. Efficient action equals success; wasted speed is useless. Think of the kid who races another by scribbling on a piece of paper while the girl you're racing traces and outlines and then colors. She wins and looks better while mine looked terrible and I still lost.
