About this listen

Having tasted human flesh while far out at sea, a shoal of giant killer squids ravage the waters and shore of an oceanic town feasting on the delicacy.

Great story.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Sounds effects cut back some, so the narration could be heard better but I'm not sure if it was actually because of all the conversions of the file downloaded.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

Classic H.G. Wells story and it is awesome. Love it

Fun listen of an H.G.Wells story

What did you love best about The Sea Raiders?

I enjoy a lot of H.G.Wells stories, and this was a new experience.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I love the idea of a "movie" like experience to an audiobook, especially an H.G.Wells story. However, some of the special effects can overpower the narration at times

Old Time Ocean Horror

Where does The Sea Raiders rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's hard to rank them, so what I'll say instead is that it was a really good story done in a really entertaining way and deserves to be near the top of audiobooks.

What other book might you compare The Sea Raiders to and why?

Probably Jaws, just because that's the only real ocean related story I ever read where the creatures are wreaking havoc, but it's a tough comparison as they definitely differ greatly.

What does K. Anderson Yancy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The production of the book and the background noises and everything gives it a lot more tension and creepiness, then he hits it with a very tense tone and everything just ratchets up that much more. This isn't an audiobook, it's more of an old timey radio drama with modern technology.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't, but I did really enjoy it so I'll take that.

Any additional comments?

I got this in exchange for an honest review, and to be honest I'll be listening to as many as I can get my hands on because I am a big fan of old stories and this production makes them good as new again in my eyes.
