What an awesome book, more than a story, also an education on what would most likely happen in that event.

Awesome!

I like the story line in general, however the author is more dedicated to making sure every character prays repeatedly than keeping the story flowing.
The first book was much better, this one has veered heavily off into to weeds.
I understand the authors mindset and as a Christian myself I am sure I would be bathing any apocalyptic situation in prayer, however the author is making the reader wade through the molasses thick pasture of repetitive prayer and mental gymnastics of each character without moving us forward in the plot line.
I love the accuracy of the story, but the detail could be shortened to get this story line out of low gear.

More Story. Less filler.

I met Jeff this weekend at a Prep Expo, and saw his books. Yesterday I downloaded this book and listened to it all day. It is different from other books as it is not all rough and nasty but it still has action and situations to learn from. I have really gotten to like the main characters and appreciate their outlook and knowledge. Today I've listened to book 2 "The Search" and have just downloaded book 3 to start on when I finish this.
The readers/actors are both very good to listen to, and put a good bit of aliveness to the story. You'll enjoy listening to them.
The story and the readers make this much better than listening to anything on television, etc. Try one, you'll be hooked.

A good story that has good education snuck into it

One group is trying to get home. One group is at home trying to survive. Looking forward to book 3. Just downloaded it.

Getting home is not easy

This time the focus is on Lizzie and Will, Jill's daughter and John's son. There are good neighbors who have taken the time and care to look out for their family's needs in case of emergency. There are also entitled, lazy neighbors who, not having prepared, get mean and manipulative, trying to find a way to "shortcut" the process of providing for their family by "undercutting" those who have prepared. The teens youth and inexperience shows with their tendency to speak too freely without thinking about consequences and not speaking to those they know to be trustworthy when they should. Grandpa in this story doesn't "warn" his grandson like he should. It wouldn't necessarily change what Will does initially, but Will would get out of situations faster or not get as deeply into trouble if he was receiving guidance. Most grandparents have more influence with their grandkids then they do with their own children. That's the only thing I'd have changed in the storyline. Ends on a cliffhanger. Narration is still very good!

Focus Is On Lizzie and Will

Loved the story line, and the information provided would be very helpful in the event of an actual cataclysm.
