Not Holmes, but good fun

As long as you don't expect this to be Sherlock Holmes, you'll probably enjoy it. I liked the basic idea the story is built around, and I enjoyed all the detailed adventures that took place along the way. I enjoyed the various characterizations, all the different settings, and the final outcome for the Romanovs. I was less pleased with the ending, but clearly the author plans another book or books, so I guess I can live with it. Holmes is too emotional and not sharp enough to actually be Holmes, but Watson is quite Watson-like (though too modern, clearly), and a better editor would have been a blessing, but overall I really enjoyed this as light and entertaining story telling. The reader was excellent. I look forward to the next installment.
