Publisher's summary

Talvi Marinossian has slain maenads and fought off vampire attacks, but nothing has prepared him for getting involved with one of these forbidden "modern girls". When he finally tracks down Annika it's obvious that she's changed since her recent adventure in his homeland. It's also clear that she's not ready to embrace the next chapter in her life. He tries to persuade her to open up to him, but she finds it difficult since he won't even explain how he earns a living, why he has a secret cell phone, or the reason he keeps another woman's handkerchief in his pocket. Instead of relying on Talvi to help her adjust, Annika delves into her music and her job, and it isn't long before the new lovers find themselves completely out of sync with one another. Just when they start to find their rhythm, Talvi is called away on business and whisks Annika off to Paris for what is supposed to be a working vacation. But one bad decision leads to another, and the chaos that ensues may cost someone their life.

You'll enjoy this edgy and dark blend of new adult urban fantasy and paranormal romance if you're a fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, Kresley Cole, Donna Grant, Charlaine Harris, Karen Marie Moning, Jeanine Frost, J.R. Ward and Lynsay Sands.

Back to Reality

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book picks up where the first book ended. Annika is depressed by being thrown back into the real world where no one believes her story. Talvi crosses worlds to find her. Very romantic gesture!

Annika's personality still drives me crazy but I had come to expect that with the first book. It's annoying that one moment she's all over Talvi and the next she's accusing him of being unfaithful...again.

But I really did enjoy this book. The voice acting is incredible. The story is great and kept my interest. I especially like the scene with "the song." The entire time in Paris was...interesting. Don't want to give anything away. And I liked that we get to see Talvi's family again and learn more about his background.

And it's another cliffhanger! I can't wait to read the third book to find out what happens.

The Silver thread...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to a friend, the story is great, although a little confusing at times & the narrator sometimes gets a little monotone...all in all...very good book & I can't wait until I can read the next one!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that Emigh showed a little bit of the realistic side of the story...yes I know it fantasy but a bit of reality its great too. I liked how Emigh showed that once back in HER world, thinks are all rainbows & roses like they were in Talvi's. When she comes back her family & friends think she is crazy after trying to tell everyone of her adventure. Once Talvi makes it back to Annika's world, shes unsure of him, of what they have, shes changed and she doesn't trust him like she used to...especially after he starts keeping secrets.

What about Nick Cracknell’s performance did you like?

Although I found him to be a little monotone at times, he brought the characters to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing extreme, although it did make me giggle a few times, it made me ponder a few things & I was confused at times but all in all...all those emotions are a good thing because it means I was invested in the story! :)

Any additional comments?

Nick Cracknell is Amazing

Listening to this series in audio form has been so amazing and quite the journey. Nick Cracknell has been such a joy to have in my ears and has blown me away. Don't even get me started on the scene where Annika and rocking out with her band and Talvi. That song is stuck in my head and I literally screamed with joy as the song was playing. One of the best moments I ever experienced while listening to an audiobook.

The Silver Thread throws us in a different direction as Talvi must learn to navigate in Annika's world and get to know her friends and family. I completely understand why people may not love this book as much given how immature mostly Annika was being, but you can say Talvi was also being insensitive. As I immersed myself in this story for a second time, I realized that I appreciated the struggle in Annika and Talvi's relationship. They truly hadn't known each other for long before getting married and neither of them know how to be in a relationship with each other. I have to say that even though there was a lot of ridiculous immaturity and moments where I think Annika was out of her mind, I am excited to see what will happen next with these characters.

I always love reading about Talvi's family and getting back to this wonderful world this author has created. I liked seeing this side of Talvi that I would have never expected. It will be interesting to see how his work will impact the story and what will become of Annika's fate.

It was pretty good

What did you love best about The Silver Thread?

The personalities came out more.

If you’ve listened to books by Emigh Cannaday before, how does this one compare?

Not as great as the first book but not as bad as the third. In Swedish we have a word, lagom, it's not really translatable to english but it's not bad and not good and that's okay. This is a lagom book.

What about Nick Cracknell’s performance did you like?

He's great at Talvi! But when he portrays women its kind of...brittle? I think that's the only word that works.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

nope.

Any additional comments?

I wanted a bit more from this book. But it's okay, it was a good listen-while-cleaning-or-walking kind of book.

Amazingly Wonderful

I loved this story as much as I loved the first (ok maybe a bit more lol). Talvi shows such an amazingly sweet side and he shows his jerk side too at times. I believe that Talvi is one of those guys that it all depends on the situation depends on whether you are going to love him or are going to hate him. All the problems that Annika and Talvi go through are common couple problems that suck, but their ways of handling them made me laugh or shake my head at their stupidity. I would really love to know what all happened in Annika's and Finn's time underground painting. Plus that ending was truly evil. I can't wait for the 3rd audio-book to come out and once again get lost in the sound of Nick Cracknell's voice and lose myself in this wonderful world.
