About this listen

The cloistered grounds of the convent have traditionally represented a place of faith and peace. Now, that peace is shattered as two nuns are found, one dead, one mortally wounded. The killings appear to be without motive, without an obvious suspect, and are further complicated by the murder and mutilation of a third woman. Together, medical examiner Maura Isles and intense, moody homicide detective Jane Rizzoli (both introduced in earlier Tess Gerritsen novels) uncover an ancient horror that connects these terrible slaughters. As long-buried secrets come to light, Isles finds herself drawn inexorably towards the heart of an investigation that strikes closer to home, and towards a dawning revelation about the killer's identity too shattering to consider.

Gerritsen never fails. Another great R&I!! The twist was unexpected for me, which I like.

You will find the characters a bit different than how they are portrayed on the TV show. I usually like the original book versions better but in this case, no. Also I rated this low because of the narration. The voice just grated on me.

More interaction between Rizzoli and Isles. More about love mixed in with the cruelty of men. Organized well written book.

One of the best of the series

Not as good as book 1 and 2, felt to litle this story. And then it jumped strangely with the detective.

I was not pleased with the way the narrator pronounced Rizzoli. There’s no “T”. Unhappy

I love the book. Having watched the T.V. show the characters are familiar but what made the audio book come to life for me is the incredible reading by Anna Fields. Anna has the single most versatile voice I have ever heard on any audio book. EVER. Honestly you will think there are at least 8 or 9 actors reading. I have had an actor in the family and know the tricks of the trade, and believe me this woman is one of a kind. Anna makes the script come alive and enhances the book.

Great story line, could not put the book down.

Did Anna Fields do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

She did a great job with all the characters.

Any additional comments?

Anna's pronunciation of Rizzoli has a "t" in it. It is not Ritzoli!

Come on Anna!
