Publisher's summary

I am a living ghost, a wanderer in search of my purpose and place.

I'm a cemetery restorer by trade, but my calling has evolved from that of ghost seer to death walker to detective of lost souls. I solve the riddles of the dead so the dead will leave me alone.

I've come to Seven Gates Cemetery nursing a broken heart, but peace is hard to come by, for the ghosts here and for me. When the body of a young woman is discovered in a caged grave, I know that I've been summoned for a reason. Only I can unmask her killer. I want to trust the detective assigned to the case, for he is a ghost seer like me. But how can I put my faith in anyone when supernatural forces are manipulating my every thought? When reality is ever-changing? And when the one person I thought I could trust above all others has turned into a diabolical stranger?

Modern Gothic done right.

The beginning of this story drew me in instantly. No warm ups here.

Amelia Gray sees ghosts - and much more. As she embraces the gift inherited from her families, the scope of what she can do broadens. It scared off Devlin. Or did it? More to come on that front I'm sure. Amelia is restoring Seven Gates cemetery when she finds a body. More like a set of hands connected to a body and once again she is drawn into misdeeds of the past colliding with the present.

Darius Goodwine returns, asking Amelia for her help in protecting his daughter. Amelia owes Darius a favor so refusing the man she believes is more witch doctor than shaman isn't an option. As Amelia is drawn into yet another murder investigation, it is a new detective who catches her eye, but can she trust him? Darius told her to trust no one and she knows she can't trust him.

There's a couple of twists in here I didn't see coming. Can't wait to dive into the next book.

surprising but not as enthralling.

I did not see the ending coming I'll admit but the rest of the storyline left much to the imagination unlike the other stories.

Much better than the last two

This one took on a very dark sinister story. The two before this one fell abit flat but, this one definitely made up for it!! Finished in one day! On to the next one!! As always Ms. Hvam narration was superb!!

Thrill Ride

In The Sinner by Amanda Steven's the character Amelia finally has embraced who she is. I adore whom Amelia has grown into, despite her being extremely fearful in the last book. In this book she plunges head long into another supernaturally touched mystery.
This book in total was a great listen and the author thrilled and chilled me, but at the same time left the scratching my head. The head scratching would reveal spoilers which I won't do. I felt the ending came out of left field.
For those who love Devlin, he is absent from this book. I know it was hard on this reader too, but the author left Amelia high and dry and nursing a broken heart. The book starts about a year after the Devlin dump. Which was the most unemotional break up in history. As a reader I know how much Amelia love's Devlin but no real emotional reactions. She is very controlled from living with all those years with the rules, but if I can read about her fears I would love to read about her emotional turmoil too.
Despite the ending, this was a solid continuation to the series, and I highly recommend the series and this book.

Addictive!

If you could sum up The Sinner in three words, what would they be?

Another fantastic addition to The Graveyard Queen series.

Any additional comments?

Amanda Stevens managed to do it again, i am seriously addicted to this series. I cant wait for the next one, which is also the last one! It is difficult to imagine, but The Sinner is even more creepy then the previous books and the end will leave you stunned and gasping for more ; ) The narrator is perfect, i dont think they could have found someone else to do the job better. Awesome!
