About this listen

A killer is putting the mangled, lifeless bodies of prostitutes on display in sleepy Northeast Tennessee.

The murderous spree is accelerating.

Two detectives, Lukas Miller from Johnson City and Brooke Stevens from Kingsport, have been assigned to hunt the killer down and stop him. Miller and Stevens are considered the best in their respective departments, and although they've never met, their superiors order them to work together in a coordinated effort to put an end to the violence as quickly as possible. Their reputations, and perhaps their careers, are on the line.

As the body count grows, Lukas and Brooke find themselves growing more and more desperate to catch a cunning psychopath who delights in painting their terrified towns red with blood. Will Lukas and Brooke finally end the nightmare? Or will the hunters become the hunted?

"Pratt's richly developed characters are vivid and believable...." (Publishers Weekly)

This is the first in what was undoubtedly a planned series by the late Scott Pratt. Perhaps Mark Stout will be able to continue the story of these two likeable main characters. I’d love to read/listen to more narrated by the excellent Tim Campbell. Treat yourself to this very enjoyable mystery certain to please Pratt’s followers and many new listeners as well.

Another great Scott Pratt mystery

loved it!!

Sympathetic protagonists, good plot, hateful villain. All the makings of a good police procedural novel with a mystery on the front end, and a satisfying conclusion.

OK, I'm hooked! Where's Book 2?

I will always read a story with Scott Pratt's name attached. Miller and Stevens seems to be another good series from the author with the assist from Mark Stout.
Tim Campbell is a top tier narrator who always draws me in.

Scott Pratt Rules

The two protagonist cops are well developed and strong characters. I'm uncertain of whether Pratt or Stout wrote this novel. The style is certainly similar to Scott Pratt's legal thrillers while the content is modern detective which is Mark Stout's area of expertise. I do appreciate the tightly composed sentences and paragraphs especially after just completing The Reckoning by John Grisham where Grisham wasted not just sentences and paragraphs but also complete chapters with useless babble that added nothing to the story. Like Scott Pratt's other novels this one is set in northeastern Tennessee. The story is excellent as is Tim Campbell's narration.

Good serial murder story.
