Publisher's summary

From the coauthor of the number-one New York Times best seller American Sniper comes a heart-pounding military thriller in which American hero and SEAL team sniper Gil Shannon joins up with an unlikely ally in order to stop a terrorist plot bent on destruction across Europe.

Hot on the trail of The Wolf, a rogue Russian military sniper turned Chechen terrorist, Gil Shannon turns from hunter to hunted when his mission is exposed by a traitor high up in US government. Shannon must turn to an unlikely ally - a deadly Russian special operative - to help even the odds. But when they discover that The Wolf is just the tip of a global terrorist plot whose goal is to upend the US economy and the stability of the Western world, Shannon and his team of operatives must track the terrorists down before their plan comes to fruition.

Shannon comes head to head with legions of enemy fighters all across Europe in this breathtakingly cinematic and realistic military thriller, ending with a faceoff between Gil and the one sniper who may be his equal shot. Will he survive?

This third action-packed and battle-filled adventure in the Sniper Elite series takes listeners along for a white-knuckle ride across Europe in the company of American soldiers, Russian special operatives, and global leaders - and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final scene.

Almost couldn't put it down!

Where does The Sniper and the Wolf rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely in the top three of all the sniper-related novels I've read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Sniper and the Wolf?

There's not "one" of them.. the book has too many in-the-moment character references between Gil and the Russian agent that are simply too "real" for fiction. It's as if the author lived the moments.

What about Brian Hutchison’s performance did you like?

Great grasp of the accents, which isn't always easy for narrators to do in books like this. The dialects ruin it sometimes. He did slip up a couple times, but not more than three or four in the whole book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not extreme, but it DID send me straight to Audible to download the next one minutes after finishing this one, so I'd call it a success!

Any additional comments?

Great characters and I like the in-depth development. I also really enjoy that the author doesn't waste too much time explaining every back story that's developed in previous books. Either you read them or you didn't. If you didn't, you should, because each one builds a little bit off the one before - not in major ways, but there are definitely relationship dynamics that would provide more enjoyment if you understood them.

Sniper 'find!'

This is an excellent read; the narrator is exactly right, and each important character is well developed- I cared about them. They were real to me. Scott McEwen and Thomas Koloniar are loaded with talent!
Worth every penny.

Juvenile plot devices but still fun.

I occasionally got slapped in the face by the author with some unbelievably contrived response or event the author used to advance his chosen storyline. If you don’t look too far under the surface, or expect a modicum of reality in all the events, or consistency in personalities, it is a good fun escapist listen. The performance is outstanding. I recommend it as good escapism. It is a little below the Gray Man books by Mark Greaney, but of the same ilk.
