About this listen

What starts as a simple revenge plot turns deadly inside Trinity Academy’s gold-plated secret society, and 17-year-old Sam Evans must decide if vengeance is worth the price.

Trinity Academy’s gold-plated secret society is about to be turned upside down. Seventeen-year-old Sam Evans plots revenge on her ex-bestie, Jessica, who happens to perch at the top of the Society’s social ladder - and helped put Sam’s dad in jail. Sam may no longer be cool enough to be invited to rush the Society, but she’s tech-savvy enough to know how to use it in her plan.

Sam fake taps three “initiates” to do her dirty work, each none the wiser that they’re merely puppets in a quest to dethrone Jessica. Convinced Sam is losing it, her best friend Jeremy distances himself, which just fuels Sam’s manic personality. But after Sam meets a hot stranger in a coffee shop, she’s sure the gods might finally be taking pity on her. Everything seems to be coming together - revenge, romance, respect - until she’s confused by her growing attraction to Jeremy and her plotting starts to derail.

Get-backs can be a bitch, and things nosedive when Sam realizes her plan isn’t as flawless as she thinks - and if she’s not careful she could be joining her dad behind bars. With one girl hospitalized and another student in a coma, Sam is forced to re-examine her motives and decide who and what she’s willing to sacrifice in the name of vengeance.

Reading

I thought the narrator/reader was especially good on this book and added personality to this YA literature. Thank you

important and relevant

the way this book addresses bullying is so imperative. the victim and the built are so often the same. two sides of the coin, racing to the behavior of others around them. this book takes you on a journey of how the eye for an eye concept can take things from bad to worse

A good YA

I liked this book it was like gossip girl and Nerve mixed. It was good for a young adult book and tackled hard realities of bullying and the victim feeling like they need revenge.

!!!!!Spoiler !!!!
There was one plot hole with the boy ransom. I felt like he was being built up to be a villain that was going to cause actual issues.

A whole lot of words but not much said

This storyline had a great chance of being a great book. However, I feel like the author spent too much of her energy on detailing out every little scenario,. She goes way overboard to ensure you're getting the point/idea of what she is trying to get across. It almost felt like she didn't have enough confidence in either herself to setup a scene or enough confidence in her readers to comprehend it. Whatever the reason, I feel like she missed a chance of writing a great book by focusing all her energy on the detailing. The story has a wonderful opportunity of being a fantastic reader if she would just get past trying to over paint the picture.
I am glad that I didn't pay for this book or I would have been very disappointed. But for a free read, it's ok

No pay off!

I listened to the whole 8 hours, there is a simple story padded with lots of details that lead to nothing. No mystery, no character development, no humor.
