About this listen
Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the client's hoped-for future instead of their ongoing problems. Elliott E. Connie and Adam S. Froerer are the founders of The Solution Focused Universe and are two of the most respected and innovative experts in their field. Together, they have developed the Diamond model-a framework of SFBT skills and tools designed to guide a clinician through each session of therapy-which is one of the biggest innovations in the field of solution focused brief therapy. This is a practical guide for any clinician (beginner or seasoned professional) to understand the philosophy and practical steps of conducting an SFBT session. Among the topics discussed:
How to presuppose the best in your client
How to trust your client's capability
The stance clinicians should adopt to be effective solution focused practitioners
The art of asking meaningful questions
The importance of autonomy
This book also includes tools to help practitioners implement this approach, including a complete SFBT session with editorial comments that illustrate the thinking that goes into constructing a session, as well as 11 solution focused questions that practitioners can use. Connie and Froerer see their Diamond model as life-changing for all parties involved. They write, "This work is transformative not only for clients but also for you. When you view your clients as capable and strong, it changes you-and how you do your job. Your perceptions directly impact your actions."

Story
In this best-selling book, one of America's most distinguished psychologists crystallises the great progress that has been made in the development of the techniques and basic philosophy of counselling. Carl Rogers gives a clear exposition of procedures by which individuals who are being counselled may be assisted in achieving for themselves new and more effective personality adjustments. Contemporary psychology derives largely from the experimental laboratory or from Freudian theory. It is preoccupied with minute aspects of animal and human behaviour or with psychopathology.

Story
Conflict is a natural part of any intimate relationship. Yet most couples either avoid it or try to smooth over their differences. This often results in at least one partner compromising their integrity—and stunting their own growth. Monsters in Love challenges the idea that conflict between partners is unhealthy or something to avoid. Instead, it encourages both people to stand by what they need and who they are—but to do so with compassion rather than competitiveness or vengefulness.

The late Carl Rogers, founder of the humanistic psychology movement, revolutionized psychotherapy with his concept of "client-centered therapy." His influence has spanned decades, but that influence has become so much a part of mainstream psychology that the ingenious nature of his work has almost been forgotten. With a new introduction by Peter Kramer, this landmark book is a classic in its field and a must-listen for anyone interested in clinical psychology or personal growth.

This book presents a therapy that focuses on precisely these areas. Laurel Parnell, leader and innovator in the field of eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), offers us a way to embrace two often separate worlds of knowing.

It has been updated and streamlined to be even more user-friendly as a practitioner guide and course text. MI originators William R. Since Stephen Porges first proposed the Polyvagal Theory in 1994, its basic idea-that the level of safety we feel impacts our health and happiness-has radically shifted how researchers and clinicians approach trauma interventions and therapeutic interactions. Yet despite its wide acceptance, most of the writing on the topic has been obscured behind clinical texts and scientific jargon.

Great info, Hard listen.
I have watched many of Elliott's YouTube videos and have always found them beneficial in helping me understand SFBT and to tailor my skill set as an SFBT practitioner. This book continued that theme of being informative by describing real life applications as well as instructional elements. I struggled to listen to the narration however, as it comes across as very robotic and unnatural. I could only listen to small amounts at a time. If you were interested in this book, I would recommend buying a physical copy and not the audio version.

Shifted while listening to this book
Hello!
I have tried a variety of modalities to fix my problem. The other modalities were just a bandaid that helped me short term.
I had the pleasure of meeting Elliott for a SFBT session and felt a shift during and after the session. This led me to listening to this book.
This process works! It worked for me personally and I will use this process with my wellness clients.
Thank you Elliott and Adam!

Has Some Amazing Stories!
The authors recounted multiple stories of change they have seen in their clients that blew my mind. I really enjoyed hearing about the real life instances where people have turned their lives around when no one else thought they could. As a counselor in training, this book was very thought provoking. I'm sure it will influence my work with clients.
This audiobook has plenty of stories to illustrate the points, and its written in a pretty conversational style, so it kept me interested & engaged the whole time. The authors talk a great deal about their relationship & history together, so it's an hour or so into the book before they finish the history and finally start talking about SFBT. I'm not sure why they included all that in there, but at least they were touching stories.
The narration was passable, but was not fluid and had some mistakes.
