About this listen

Mark Beckett is the most annoying, patronizing, arrogant jerk on the face of the earth. So, naturally, I can’t get the damn man out of my head.

Fiona:
Like the old saying goes, I’m a jill of all trades but a master of none. What I lack in skill, however, I make up for in enthusiasm - something certain people (ahem) find irritating. But I have my reasons for living my life the way I do, for diving into one project after another and trying to make a difference. And if Mark Beckett doesn’t like it, he knows where to find the door. I don’t need his approval...or his panty-melting kisses.

Mark:
I enjoy the simple things in life: a job well done, a cold beer, a hot woman...you get the idea. But there’s nothing simple about the mess I just found myself in. The last thing I need is a pint-size princess sticking her nose in my business and pushing every damn one of my buttons like it’s her job. But Fiona Pierce may be the only one with the tools to solve my problems - and the power to change everything.

Loved It!

This is a great book; this is the second book in the Carolina Connections series and is written by Sylvie Stewart and narrated by Amanda Stribling and David Black. I loved Fiona and Marks romance and it was so funny. I listened to it in one sitting. The story was great and the banter between the characters were great. Many laugh out loud moments. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. The narrator did a fabulous job with the characters and had me giggling out loud several times. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book by this great author and narrator.

The Spark

This was a fun friends to lovers. The both had issues to work through together and individual. Enjoyed getting to know this couple.

The Snarky Spark

This was my first encounter with author Sylvie Stewart as well as both narrators Amanda Stribling and David Black. I have to say that I was impressed with all three. Many romantic comedies fall short on the comedy for me but this one had me regularly chuckling.
The overall drama and suspense was minimal keeping to the comedic tone. Both Fiona and Marc, self-proclaimed commitment phobes for their own personal reasons find their desire for something more with each other including witty banter. No cheating or cliffhangers here and a HEA!

hilarious

I'm pretty sure this is the first thing I've read/listened to from this author. it was so funny! there were more times than I could count where I was laughing out loud. it's obviously part of a series, but I have no idea how much I've missed not reading in order. I did feel a little lost a couple of times with trying to know who was who and who was related or whatever. I'm normally not too excited for the alternating chapter narration, but this worked for me. I loved Fiona and I loved the nickname Marc gave her!

He grows on you

This enemies to livers comedy/romance was totally entertaining. it is Mark and Fiona's story.
Mark is hard to like in the beginning, a muscle bound , arrogent player. Fiona is also a little over the top with enthusiasm. They both grew on me as I learned their stories
This was a fun, somewhat steamy and exciting story.

Enemies to Lovers

Enjoyed this rom-com by Sylvie Stewart. Fiona and Mark have a great back and forth banter. Fiona is a 5 foot ball of fire and she knocks Mark for a loop.

Amanda Stribling and David Black narrated this book. I love Amanda Stribling and have listened to several books she has narrated. This is a first for David Black for me and while I love listening to Amanda I will say I did not enjoy David as much. It's still a good book and funny and worth a listen. We all have different taste so while I might not have enjoyed his voice you may love him. Check it out and decide for yourself.

Narrators improved the story

The book started out to slow for me. I don't know if it needed to be edited better? It's like when some people tell a story and they talk about everything they did, ate, slept, etc.
I really liked the narrators, they brought the story to life. I normally listen at 1.25, but I had to speed up to 1.5 Again, not sure that it was a narrator issue or wanting to speed up the book. Once I got to the middle or end, I was intrigued and slowed the book down.

The second just as good as the first

This was such a great story, I laughed especially when Fiona had an inner dialogue with herself. There were some very touching moments in the story I loved . It was just a wonderful loving funny tale with Mark and Fiona who hated each other until they really got to know one another. Another great book

Get ready to laugh like a crazy person!

Please be warned that if you decide to listen to this book in public or anyplace you can be seen, you are guaranteed to start laughing hysterically and people will undoubtably look at you like you are insane! It happened to me!
I loved Fiona & Mark so flippin’ much! And yes, Fiona’s antics had me in tears! I got the side eye from my husband too many times to count! But man was it ever worth it!
Amanda Stribling was absolutely AMAZING as Fiona! While I loved David Black’s voice and thought he was perfect as Mark, it got a bit weird when he was “Fiona”. Otherwise, absolutely perfect!!!

Nothing but love for this enemies-to-lovers story

Fiona and Mark are my favorites in Sylvie Stewart's Carolina Connections world. Fiona is my girl and I wish she was my fairy godmother too. The way she and Mark whip each other into shape in The Spark has me laughing and swooning, and calling everyone shortcake. The narrators do a wonderful job bringing the story to life and bringing me right home to North Carolina...or to that nightclub on the Jersey shore. ;)
