Publisher's summary

Dr. Ruth Galloway returns to North Norfolk in her latest chilling adventure. DCI Nelson has been receiving threatening letters. They are anonymous yet somehow familiar. They read like the letters that first drew him into the case of the Crossing Places and to Ruth.

But the author of those letters is dead. Or are they?

The past is reaching out for Ruth and Nelson, and its grip is deadly.

Mystery Is Intriguing

I almost didn't buy this book. In some of the last books in the Ruth Galloway series the personal drama had almost taken over the story. However this book had a better than decent mystery with some characters that hark back to the earlier books in the series.

Not a spoiler but honestly the drama from the last book in this series ended up as a bit of damp squib. I really liked her early books that concentrated on the archaeology and this one was a nice call back to those books.

The performance was first rate.

Another wondeful tale by McDowell!

Ruth finds herself a little less involved in the criminal investigations than in her past adventures but is no less the focus of this book.

Full Circle

Another enjoyable story from Elly Griffiths with all the characters we've come to know so well.
Kate is now seven years old. Ruth and Nelson continue their on and off dance. Kate meets her half sisters, and Judy solves the mystery of "sea horses" helping Nelson finally close a cold case. Ruth meets Eric's son and goes on a misfortunate trip to ancient stones. If you have read other Elly Griffiths mysteries, this one doesn't disappoint

the stone circle

I have enjoyed each, and every Ruth Galloway book. the characters are like old friends. I can't wait to get through the book , then I am sad because it's over, and am ready for a new one.l would love the books to become a TV series. but at the same time, I feel, the character " cathbad" would come off as crazy or sad. definitely worth a read, but start at the beginning.

Always the storyteller

I’m obsessed with this series. I find that I might like them even more with them narrated!

Just loving this series!

Great story with characters old and new. The narrator is really good and I love how the voices sound ‘through the phone’

Loved this!

I love Ruth Galloway and would be horrified if anyone but Jane McDowell read her 😍
