About this listen

Anna is eager to begin a new chapter in her life as a Lancaster County tour guide in the picturesque area where her Plain grandmother once stayed. Anna wishes she could talk with her grandmother about those long-ago days, but the elderly woman suffers from Alzheimer's, and beyond a vague hint about an old stone wall, much about that time is a mystery. Thankfully, Martin Nolt, a handsome Mennonite, takes the young Beachy Amish woman under his wing for her training, familiarizing her with the many local highlights, including Peaceful Meadows Horse Retreat, which serves children with special needs. The retreat's mission so inspires Anna that she returns to volunteer, and she quickly strikes up a friendship with Gabe Allgyer, the young Amish widower who manages it.

As Anna grows closer to both Martin and Gabe, she finds herself faced with a difficult choice - one in potential conflict with the expectations of her parents. Will Anna find true love and the truth about her grandmother's past in Lancaster County? Or will she find only heartbreak?

Great story!

The story was well written. I liked the fact that there was a little mystery to the story. However it seems unlikely that once a person gets a taste of the freedom that driving gives them that they would be willing to give it up. Was a nice twist.

Just Lovely!

I confess I love each and every one of Ms. Lewis' books, but I think this one is especially dear. The characters are so rich and endearing. Their love for their Lord and their families leads them in the way they should go. It always works that way if we stick to The Path. It's just so easy to take a short cut or wander off a wee bit ...

Stupendous! Great story and histor lesson!

Loved it. Beverly Lewis never disappoints. The storyline was exceptional, and the history and differences between Beachy Amish, Old Order Amish, and Mennonite so good. Anna, Mart , Gabe and Emmy will tug at your heart. Stone Neilson as narrator is fantastic. Loved every minute of listening.

The Stone Wall

I really enjoyed the story of making life decision by learning to wait on God. Anna had to make an all important decision involving love and not regret. The outcome made me feel very joyous after learning the sadness of mammi 's young love.
