Publisher's summary

Something evil is gathering power in the kingdom. It knows the secrets in your heart, and nobody is safe....

Petra Kel - young and headstrong - has been named General of the Queen’s Guard. But while Petra’s head may be in rebuilding the war-torn kingdom alongside her childhood friend Queen Belengaria, she left her heart miles away in their homeland the day she turned her back on the only man she ever loved and fled.

But then Petra’s past - in the form of Bel’s roguish brother Zander - comes crashing in, just as rumors of dark magic begin to swirl at court. Petra can’t afford to be distracted...but the unfinished business between herself and Zander is like a vice upon her heart.

When evil takes hold of the kingdom and threatens Bel, Petra is forced to make the impossible choice between love and loyalty. And will the insidious magic of the Stone’s Heart reveal the heartbreaking reason why she left Zander behind all those years ago?

Great book and solid narration!

Awesome romantic sci-fi adventure with complicated characters (in a good way!) and strong imagination.

Good series

Good series. A little disappointed in book 2.

But I would still recommend the series

Awesome story, not a wholesome ending

I was a fan of book one so I knew the back story and for the most part, this book did not disappoint. However, the storytelling wasn't as great and sometimes I couldn't always tell which character was speaking. There were unanswered questions by the time the book ended so I imagine there will be a book 3. All in all, a great story.

Lovely conclusion

I don't often read fantasy. I decided to listen to the first book and loved it so I had to find out how the series concluded. This narrator was able to keep me interested. She hadw a compelling and calmong voice. The storyline was excellent. There was so much happening I know would have been difficult to keep straight in my head if I wasn't listening to it This series can be read by young teens.

Solid 4 stars! Great story!

As many of the other reviews have stated this book is hard to stop once you start reading it or in my case listening. The reason why I gave at a solid 4 stars is I find the ending to be up in the air and the only other book involving this one is a prequel. If I knew there was going to be a another book to tie up loose ends I would have probably rated this one a little higher. As far as the performance goes I think there should have been 2 females narrators or a narrator that could change their voice. I got lost several times and had to re listen to it not knowing which leading female character was speaking at the time.
