Publisher's summary

The battle lines have been drawn.

The An’Dari and his allies have embarked upon their quest for one of the missing Stones of Aer. The lost artifact of legend may hold the key to saving those trapped in the Grey. Pursued by the enemy, the survival of an entire ancient race is in their hands.

With the summer months fast approaching, defiant mercenary companies continue to clash with the forces of the new Protectorate Empire. The prince’s army, now camped at the Dwarven fortress of Celig Helme, hones its skills in preparation for all-out war. In the lands of the Northern Council, Elizabeth Mayne continues to navigate the political arena in Hallenford. Meanwhile, in the occupied port city of Edentor, rebels plan the daring rescue of a foreign noblewoman.

And, fulfilling a Silveryn prophecy, an infamous name from the past reaches out from the shadows - Kaleris has returned.

The story flows

The character development is phenomenal and the continuity
Of the story makes you want more . The narrator is genius as any who have listened to Simon Vance already know .

The reader is the main attraction here.

Story is so so but performance is superb and makes it a great distraction and relaxation tool. Nothing too intense here so it’s great for a casual relaxing listen. The grotesque details of events are thankfully omitted and swearing is kept minimal in time period correct fantasy manner. Very pleased with this author but I think carrying on a series too long is taking its toll and a new saga is in order.

A good listen.

Overall, very well done, my only criticism, if any, is the chapters jump from person to person a little much for my tastes. I prefer to have a little longer with each character.

However, that's just my personal opinion; overall, it's well done.

Finally

Moss finally rewards the dedicated reader with an almost brilliant storyline in the third novel. He seems to be hitting his stride as he develops his story and characters.

Simon Vance is brilliant as always.

I am looking forward to the 4th novel.

Third one in and I am Hooked

This is a great story arc with a lot of strong characters. Definitely recommend this story line, but be patient with the first book.

the ending felt rushed

I enjoyed the books leading up to this, comma but this book was less. The center of the book thru of the book was battle after battle after battle in confusing and overlapping ways that made it difficult for The listener to track. Most disappointing of all is the ending, The book seems to be taking a page from the sopranos and ending With at least half a chapter left to write.

MGM

From beginning to end masterfully done, Hats off and standing ovation. Will be on the short list of getting a second listen once the series is completed. Thinking the 4th book is gonna be jus as enjoyable.

Third Book, Things move forward, but a bit slowly

I do like the books. all of the storylines do have me curious, intrigued, and wanting to know what happens to the characters.

But, it just feels a bit plodding. Nothing really new is introduced in the third book. the storylines all plod a bit. (I also dislike how the same characters are described when we see them in the same way, like we've never seen them before. It feels like word-count packing)

but, I will read #4. I am looking forward to it.
