About this listen

Sara Stanley is only 14, but she can weave tales that are impossible to resist. In the charming town of Carlisle, children and grown-ups alike flock from miles around to hear her spellbinding narratives. And when Bev King and his younger brother, Felix, arrive for the summer, they, too, are captivated by the Story Girl. Whether she's leading them on an exciting misadventure or narrating timeless stories — from the scary "Tale of the Family Ghost" to the fanciful "How Kissing Was Discovered" and the bittersweet "The Blue Chest of Rachel Ward" — the Story Girl has her audience hanging on every word.(P)1997 Blackstone Audio Inc. Amazing classic

I was listening to this book right after the Emily series with a lovely narration. This was so bland and lacked any flow in comparison, making it hard to stay attentive. I will be reading my kindle version at first opprtunity to find all the delightful tidbits I missed out on because of it.

choppy narration

Sadly this audiobook suffers from a few audio issues. There are multiple strange pauses, and for the first half the audio levels are all over the place. The narrator begins each sentence in a much louder tone, and ends almost in a whisper. It was frustrating to listen to. Luckily this seemed to have been mended halfway through, but the beginning is rough.
Another beautiful Montgomery story. I am knocking off one star for all the religion. Haha. Sorry. I read many classics, so I'm used to Christianity playing a larger part in the lives of the characters, but at times religion seemed to take over this particular book. It was a lot. Other than that it's just a string of charming scenes of kids enjoying their lives. Very cozy and sweet.

This is one my favorite books of all time and the reader is phenomenal. We have listened to it countless times. We just finished it and can’t wait to start the Golden Road read by her as well.

An engaging story of childhood joys, dreams, concerns, worries, and antics. My daughter says, "I wish it was longer."

This book was just delightful! It consists of telling of the summer of two brothers as they visited their cousins on Prince Edward Island and hell the group of children played and had adventures and told stories, etc. it was just sweet and a little bit pointless other than the glimpse of times past that it gives us readers.

The narrator was excellent! I felt that she captured the feel of what it was like to be told the story by the story girl. She didn’t do voice acting, per se, she just narrated, but she was an excellent narrator!

A story of childhood from the early 1900s
