About this listen

Louis L'Amour was the most decorated author in the history of American letters and a recipient of the Medal of Freedom. Now collected here in a single book are several of Louis L'Amour's finest Western stories the way Mr. L'Amour wrote them. At the time Louis L'Amour was writing, it was common practice for editors to rewrite the manuscript to fit certain publishing criteria. The text of The Strong Land has been restored, and the stories within it appear as Mr. L'Amour intended.

Whether you're new to the thrilling frontier fiction of Louis L'Amour or one of his legions of fans, these six short stories will assure you that you are in the hands of a master storyteller.

Included here are:"The One for the Mohave Kid", "His Brother's Debt", "A Strong Land Growing", "Lit a Shuck for Texas", "The Nester and the Paiute", and "Barney Takes a Hand".

Standing for what is right

Themes throughout show that life is not easy, doing the right thing, respect are worthy. The readers execute the stories well. The author is well versed and has great talent with his writing.

Really good listen for western lovers

This is what lovers of westerns are looking for. Great writing, but one of the readers has a very shrill voice that will cause you to have to lower the volume.

These early L’Amour short stories are great

Listening to the early stories is a lot of fun. They are quick, spun into a yarn that we love and doesn’t disappoint. All I can say is enjoy them sitting at home or on the road. Your time will fly bye.

Good stories of western lore and well written.

Enjoyed the adventerous and looked forward to learning the ending not always obvious. Honest and forth right men following their dreams and toughing it out.

Good stories but VERY short.

I've been listening to Elmer Kelton books, which seem to be much longer, so these stories felt like they were almost over before they started. They were good outside of that.
