About this listen

"Ross Hardy had made his decision. He sat in the middle of all he owned, a splendid Appaloosa gelding, a fine California saddle, a .44 Winchester rifle, and two walnut-stocked Colt .44 pistols. These were his all. It was a life that had left him rich in experience, but poor in goods of the world. The experience was the hard-fisted experience of cold winters, dry ranges, and the dusty bitterness of cattle drives. He had fought Comanches and rustlers, hunted buffalo and horse thieves. Now he was going to ride for himself, to fight for himself." (From the book)©1949 Better Publications, Inc. (P)2005 Blackstone Audiobooks Action & Adventure Fiction Historical Fiction Westerns

One of the best that he wrote!

As always the characters come to life. I can actually see them, even. Though I am blind. I loved the segment when the Chinaman hid the boys under a tarp and diverted the attention of the guys looking for the boys by offering good melons. They called him crazy and moved off. Letting him take care of the boys.

Same story different book

Did anyone notice this is the same story as Where The Long Grass Blows but just with a couple different names?

A wonderful Louis L'Amour story expertly told.

A fast paced story of food conquering evik during the settling of the old American southwest.

Classic Louis L’amour

This book talks about characters from the old west. Planning and guts helps each one survive and thrive. The evil ones eventually get their just reward. The hero rides my favorite breed of horse the amazing Appaloosa.

Formula Western

So satisfying to hear Jim Gough read these Classic Western romance adventures. The good guy wins, the bad guys get their just deserts and the music plays you out. Sigh. A beautiful respite from our crazy world.

Thanks

Was tough to get thru due to the monotone narrative there was inflection in the voice but for me it was hard to follow...
Thanks though
