Fantastic! Fun-tastic! Fawn-tastic!

Fawn is back home, and Christmas Eve 1849 has finally arrived. As Santa, Mary, Wajic, and the legendary team of reindeer leave to begin the monumental task of delivering gifts to children around the world, a sun pillar appears not far away. But the purpose of the bright and beautiful column of light is dark and dangerous.

Upon Santa’s return, the moment his sleigh touches down, its occupants and the faithful reindeer will all disappear forever. Only someone pure of heart and with an unblemished soul can extinguish the pillar safely. That someone is...Fawn. But many perils and surprises mark the way to the pillar. Fawn’s very first Christmas may turn out to be her last.

Another Great Addition To The Series

4.5 out of 5 stars

Going into the fourth book in The Adventures of Fawn series – I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from these books. But, to my surprise – Boy was able to surprise me and delight me again. Even though these are “children’s” books, they are so much more. Al E. Boy is able to write stories that transcend the age of the reader and stories that have things that everyone both needs to learn or need to be reminded of.

The Sun Pillar was one of those stories that just jumped off of the pages. It wasn’t the best in the series, but it was definitely a strong showing. Like I said above, I know where Al E. Boy is going to go with some of these stories but it doesn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of them. I think the thing that jumped out at me in this one was the exact continuation of the last story. Basically, Fawn returns home and is instantly swept up into the next adventure. Al E. Boy didn’t give me or the characters a chance to breathe before the next one began. There’s nothing wrong with this, it was just something that stuck out to me.

Throw in the excellent narration by Tsujioka, who has crushed each of these four books, and you have a children’s book that is for all ages. A story that everyone will enjoy that jumps off of the pages and a series that has been a genuine surprise to me. It’s not that I didn’t expect to enjoy it, but I just kept expecting the books to be too juvenile for me and it never happened.

This book and this series have been great – I highly recommend them.

Choices and Pure of Heart

Having returned from her latest adventure, Fawn is anticipating her first Christmas of 1849. The only problem is Santa, Mary, Wajic, and her parents and other reindeer are in danger! If they land the sleigh, they will simply be no more! It is up to Fawn and Fawn alone to save the day. To extinguish the Sun Pillar, Fawn must be pure of heart and have an unblemished soul. Her struggle to defeat the evil that is trying to destroy Christmas and Santa forever may be more than she can handle. Their fate lies in her untarnished love and faith. Hopefully, her first Christmas will not be her last!

Al E. Boy, the author, takes many instances that young people face and turns them into a lesson that is captivating and moving. Faced with several instances of misbehaving and disobeying her parents, Fawn questions her abilities and her moral fiber not realizing that those examples are being exaggerated and manipulated to trick her. We all question ourselves time and time again, but Boy takes it to a new level and demonstrates that love can overcome evil. Further, he shows that while friends can grow additional interests, friendship does not die.

Boy introduces new characters with each book in this series; he does so in a methodical manner that allows the listener to see growth and substance. His descriptions are vivid, and his dialogs are realistic. Together they move the story forward flawlessly. Living at the North Pole is very adventuresome and exciting!

Pam Tsujioka as the narrator is delightful. She has performed each book in the series and has done an excellent job of maintaining unique and clear voices for each character. Her voice is almost musical as she moves from one character to the next.

I highly recommend this book for listeners of all ages. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in this series!

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was well done and the clarity of it was exemplary.

The adventure continues

The Sun Pillar is the fourth novel in the The Adventures of Fawn series by award-winning author Al E. Boy. The story follows once again our young reindeer, Fawn, who has just returned home after a life-changing experience about which you can learn everything in the previous book, Far and Yet So Near.

With Christmas around the corner, in Santa’s village, Fawn and her friends will be swept away into another daring adventure that can hold the key to everyone’s wellbeing.

The audiobook version of The Sun Pillar is performed with talent, enthusiasm and skill by series veteran Pam Tsujioka. Once again, Pam makes all the characters spring to life in the listener’s imagination, with suitable, well defined voices and accents.

She reads in a calm, soothing voice, and delivers a well balanced and enjoyable listening experience for the entirety of this audio production.

As I said before, I highly recommend this superbly written series of adventures to readers and listeners of all ages. They are perfect for a long drive in the family car, for a late night listen or as just something nice and sweet to enjoy with your kid.
