About this listen

She’s a romantic at heart, living in the most unromantic of worlds....

Nicknamed Sweet Abelli for her docile nature, Elena smiles on cue and has a charming response for everything. She’s the favored daughter, the perfect mafia principessa...or was. Now, all she can see in the mirror’s reflection is blood staining her hands like crimson paint.

They say first impressions are everything....

In the murky waters of New York’s underworld, Elena’s sister is arranged to marry Nicolas Russo. A made man, a boss, a cheat—even measured against mafia standards. His reputation stretches far and wide and is darker than his black suits and ties.

After his and Elena’s first encounter ends with an accidental glare on her part, she realizes he’s just as rude as he is handsome. She doesn’t like the man or anything he stands for, though that doesn’t stop her heart from pattering like rain against glass when he’s near, nor the shiver that ghosts down her spine at the sound of his voice.

And he’s always near.

Telling her what to do.

Making her feel hotter than any future brother-in-law should.

Elena may be the Sweet Abelli on the outside, but she’s beginning to learn she has a taste for the darkness, for rough hands, cigarettes, and whiskey-colored eyes.

Having already escaped one scandal, however, she can hardly afford to be swept up in another. Besides, even if he were hers, everyone knows you don’t fall in love with a made man...right?

This is a stand-alone forbidden romance (with plenty of steam and angst.)

The female narrator sounded so childish which got really awkward during the steamy scenes. The male narrator didn’t sound strong enough. He seemed so weak for such a masculine character.

Did not like narrators at all

This was such a good read! I love a grumpy man- who would burn the world for the woman he wants.

Elena ends up marring the man that was meant for her sister (who she was secretly wanting anyway). He is a dangerous man in their world but that makes him more exciting.
Nico was trying to find a loophole in his marriage contract because Elena was more interesting than her sister and she was the only woman to talk back to him.
Book was awesome!

Love a good Mafia book

Theres miscommunication and then theres just no communication and these two just had 0 communication skills.
FMC kept a secret that made others assume the worst of her AND the mmc made assumptions that upset the FMC but then the FMC didnt want to clear things up cause screw him if he wanted to believe the worst in her but yet never allowed him to get to know her outside the bedroom.

It was hard to like the characters when they kept repeating their mistakes. Story wasn’t terrible but incredibly frustrating.

I do want to know what happens between Christian and Gianna so i will be giving book 2 a shot.

Just frustrating

I loved it! This story kept me on my toes and honestly I cried so much. I love the way I could feel the emotions of the characters. The descriptions and story telling is amazing.

Chapter 1-26 chapters was so much back and forth wish their was more action.

Entertaining, kept my attention. Lots of emotions. Perfect palette cleanser when in a book slump.

A good distraction.

Did I enjoy the book? Yes! The audio was good I just wish that the voices weren’t different when it was either characters chapter. Meaning her voice would be different if it was his chapter and vice versa. Still a great read tho, I look forward to book 2.

Loved the book, a little iffy on audio.

Liked it all!! Narrators did a great job. I’ve read this book twice over the past several years and just listen to it for the first time.

All time favorite!

I typically read things more dark and sinister but I had everyone telling me to read this book and saying I would love it, at first I didn’t, but I kept telling myself to read the book to the end you never know how it’s gonna end. It was very slow burning until half the end. But overall i love it. Will it be in my top three? No. But it’s still a good book that I will recommend to others who are wanting to get into the darker and juicier books but making sure they slowly get into them because once you go through it there’s no going back.

Bette then I thought
