This is a modern application of God's laws, incorporating lively discussion on the Bible and Judeo-Christian values derived from it - from the conscience of talk radio, best-selling author Dr. Laura.
The Ten Commandments are the first direct communication between a people and God. Designed to elevate our lives above mere frantic, animal existence to the sublime levels humanity is capable of experiencing, they are the blueprint of God's expectations of us and his plan for a meaningful, just, loving, and holy life. Each commandment asserts a principle, and each principle is a moral focus point for real-life issues relating to God, family, sex, work, charity, property, speech, and thought.
The Ten Commandments incorporates lively discussion of the Bible and the Judeo-Christian values derived from it. Filled with passion, emotion, and profound insights, it will enlighten, inspire, and educate a whole new audience on the meaning each commandment has in our daily lives today.
The Ten Commandments:
1. I am the Lord, your God, Who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.
2. You shall not recognize the gods of others in My presence.
3. You shall not take the Name of the Lord, your God, in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day and sanctify it.
5. Honor your Father and your Mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your fellow.
10. You shall not covet.

I've listened to 3 of her books and all deserve a 5 star rating. But the reason I wasn't too impressed with this one was
1st because the Rabi she has randomly reading chapters sounds as if he has a retainer in his mouth as he reads. when he read the 3rd commandment and says Idolatry I thought he was saying Adultery.
2ed I thought they were going to make a religious book about the Bible. instead it became a book where it compares Jewish religion with Christians. Not mentioning another bible chapter and verse to reference beside the 10 commandments.
3rd Now I'm not going to say it's a bad book. it's a good book for those that aren't familiar with the bible. or has ever considered living what the good book tells then to live. yet I being dedicated to the Bible growing up this book sounded like listing to a series of sermons of how to relate the commandments to today's life.
Worth a Listen yet not as good as her other books

The research and clear explanation of the Ten Commandments is wonderful. This is not just a book on what the commandments are, but rather why they are, and how the imapct of each one reaches far and wide into everyones' lives whether they are a Christian or a Jew.
The content of this book is 5 stars...the reason I gave it a 4 star rating is because I found the Rabbi's voice to be distracting because of his lisp. Dr. Laura and the Rabbi trade off every other commandment and I found myself bracing inside when I realized Dr. Laura's segment was coming to an end.
Please do not let that change your mind about this book though. The quality of the information inside is too good to pass up.
