Featured Article: An Apology—A Perfect Tool of Life

At one or many points in our lives we will owe someone an apology, and someone will owe us one as well. Many will get it right, by simply and sincerely saying "I’m sorry." They might even add, "What can I do to make this right?" Unfortunately, some will try but render their apology null and void by saying, "I'm sorry, but..." In an earnest apology, there is no "but." Much has been written on the subject from psychologists to humorists to trusted gatekeepers of etiquette whose engaging listens will guide you to the right apology.

Healing Through Forgiveness

I have several of Gary's books,, I used the premixed in my womens empowerment coaching. A 3 year relationship with a man I loved, but he struggled to love himself caused an interesting complexity. I'm a stand up humble woman, who leads and directs others through the power of Christ. My partner struggled with my conviction to Christ, my life mission and dedication to grow. Long story short, he made choices and went to prison for 10 months. within the first 3 months he read the book, "When Sorry isnt Enough". This book along with Bible study started his transformation... which I pray holds true. Thank you Gary, I appreciate your beautiful translations, which I believe come from God.

This book is awesome!

I underestimated this book. I am so glad I read it. Now I have a better understanding that like love languages there are different ways to apologize that are more effective and the importance of apologies. Awesome work

Great book! I have been able to put a lot of things to rest because of this book. I am learning the art of forgiveness.

I loved listening to this book. I have for years been raised to not hear “I’m sorry” or heard excuses as to why I made a situation worse. My own husband hasn’t ever apologized in my apology language. A couple of nights ago, I put the book to the test and apologized to him for the hurtful things I’ve said and done over the years that hurt his self-esteem and worth as a man. I used a similar script in the book and truly sat in my apology with true remorse and the want and need to fix an unhealthy cycle. It worked and I am going to buy a physical copy of the book so my husband and I can go through it together as a couple, hoping to heal past traumas. I hadn’t forgiven myself for some things in my past that cost me my job and reputation until hearing the last few chapters on “forgiving yourself”. I had been held captive by my feeling of shame and self-hatred for my mistakes. I have forgiven myself and have asked God to forgive me as well again. This book is life changing. Please listen to it with an open mind and open heart.

Necessary for everyone on the planet

There is something to be learned here for everyone in any kind of a relationship. I wish they had mandatory life skills courses like this in the high school because most kids don't get this in the home and if they do, it's worth reinforcing! This would be a powerful way to strengthen our country by pulling family units together.

Super Helpful!

Absolutely helps you understand yourself and what you need in an apology. It also helped me articulate what I need to my husband.

Revelatory

This book was waaaaay more interesting than I expected. The authors used good examples and lots of good phrasing to help clarify their points. I’ll listen again and again as I continue on a growth path of a forgiving life.
