About this listen

Fleeing a disastrous marriage, Helen Huntingdon retreats to the desolate mansion, Wildfell Hall, with her son, Arthur. There, she makes her living as a painter. Finding it difficult to avoid her neighbors, she is soon an object of speculation and gossip. Brontë portrays Helen's eloquent struggle for independence at a time when society defined a married woman as her husband's property.

The Bronte sisters never cease to capture me but Anne is by far so under appreciated. This book was moving and deserves as much claim as Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. The actors are perfect and don't miss a beat with vocals and expressions. And the story itself is securely riveting.

Couldn't get enough

The Tennant of Wildfell Hall has long been my favorite fiction novel and this audio version is my favorite version of the kind.

This is a story that should be read by every young adult before marriage, as it shows the presumptuous folly of a woman having men as close friends without any romantic sentiment or notions developing.

One of the best themes is the consequences of decisions made in one's youth and the effects it can have on many others.

The best themes though are Love, patience, and redemption.

Excellently performed Greatest of fiction novels!

In a perfect world every middle schooler would read this book. I cannot help but feel, at least in the case of young people able to learn from the experience of others, it would guide not a few to make a better selection of life partner. Even more than that, I dare dream, it may encourage many to consider their own character and habits and choose a better course than they might otherwise have done. This volume is yet another classic aptly worthy of that distinction. I highly recommend it as eminently worthy reading. I am a richer and I hope better person for having done so. I trust it will continue to bless others, as I know it has already, as well.

Authentic, instructive, satisfying

Well written with all the quality of the period. You won’t be able to put it down.

It’s a beautiful story.

Very informative and giving insight as to the way of life of that time. Narration was very good.

Good story

Certainly entertaining although very long winded by today’s standards. The narrators are both very good. The heroine is a bit holier than thou and at one point when she is lecturing some poor individual (who of course repented of his ways), I thought, Oh shut up.
Anyway the book has some interesting twists that keep it entertaining and is a luminary on woman’s life in the 1800’s

A good book to listen to

The lesser known Bronte sister is officially my favorite of the three. I enjoyed the episolary feel and the narrators did a marvelous job telling their stories.

Superbly Shocking

It is sure that I will never cease to enjoy and to marvel at what I refer to as The Miracle: so much talent flourishing in so simple and poor circumstances. To add Anne to the hall of fame of her beloved sisters is a joy and a pleasure.

Another Miracle

The narration was perfection and the story even more so! 2 nights of sleep lost but it was worth it.
A. Brontë is one of the best writers that has ever been or ever will be.
Highly recommended.
