About this listen
“A deliciously chilling gothic mystery with a smart and resourceful heroine . . . What more could fans of Jane Eyre and Rebecca want?”—Carol Goodman, two-time Mary Higgins Clark Award winner
Two brides band together to unravel the secrets at the heart of a crumbling island manor in this delicious love letter to gothic fiction from the award-winning author of A Dreadful Splendor
'Til death do us part...
November 1816: Restless but naive Emeline Fitzpatrick is desperate to escape her stifling life in foggy Halifax. Her guardian is lining up repugnant suitors, but Emeline has her eyes set on a lieutenant in the British Navy. She just needs to persuade him to propose, or her one chance at happiness will be gone forever.
But when Emeline’s hopes end in scandal, she finds herself with only one suitor left: the wealthy and enigmatic Captain Graves. Having already lost two wives to tragic circumstances, the widower is seeking a new companion in his cloistered seaside manor, Faraday House. Or at least that is what Emeline has been told, because when she arrives, she is horrified to discover that the second Mrs. Graves, Georgina, is still alive—though fading fast.
Emeline is only certain of two things: something ghastly is afoot at Faraday House, and no one is going to save her. She will have to rely on her own courage, her burgeoning bond with Georgina, and the aid of a handsome reverend with a mysterious past to shed light on a ghostly truth.

Lady Theodosia Balfour has certainly gotten the short end of the stick—her stepsister, the newly crowned Princess Beatrice, is telling everyone in polite society that Theo, her sister, and their mother are evil, wicked, and horrid people who treated her like a slave. Though Theo knows this isn't exactly true, it seems her life is thoroughly ruined by the rumor. With the Balfour family estate on the verge of bankruptcy, Theo's only path forward is a forced betrothal to the Duke of Snowbell, a foul-tempered geezer who wishes only to use her as a brood mare for spare heirs.

voice recording well done
I enjoyed the well written storyline. The performance was voiced with enthusiasm where it was needed, and dispare at the right times.

Not as good as Dreadful Splendor
I was really surprised that the same author wrote both a fantastic, twisty, I never knew what would happen mystery like ‘Dreadful Splendor’ and this book in which I guessed pretty much everything that would happen.
‘The Third Wife of Faraday’ is not bad… The imagery and characters are good. But it’s really predictable.

Unpredictable, outstanding gothic tale
Absolutely loved this one. Highly recommend! Very good story full of twists and turns and points where you really don’t know where the story will go! The narration is excellent. Loved the character development, especially the blossoming of the female friendships as well as the main female protagonist realizing her own worth. Loved it and would read again!

could not finish
I tried really hard to finish this book. But I rolled my eyes too many times, I just couldn't continue. The main character is foolish and naive, and if I hear the name Fredrick one more time I'm gonna go crazy.

Interesting premise but writing is juvenile
The description of this book was interesting, but the book itself has far too many twists to even be somewhat believable, and it drags on for about 4 hours longer than it should. Main female character was naive to the point of annoying silliness. Nothing about the male character (the Captain) made him enigmatic, interesting, or appealing. The side characters were repugnant weirdos (except for the present Mrs. Gates and the reverend). The narrator did an excellent job at reading this book with plenty of life, spunk, and personality. It wasn't enough to make me recommend this book to anyone.

This is the first book I have ever not finished.
The book was painful from minute one. I got about a quarter of the way through and I just couldn’t go on. The narrator, in my opinion, was terrible. And the character was simply dumb. I don’t even usually leave reviews, but I literally cannot recommend this book to anyone.
