About this listen
If you are like me, you spent a majority of your life largely unaware of what OCPD was. When you suddenly stumbled upon it, everything started to make sense. If you have others around you who have OCPD, you see the daily struggles it causes them and the friction that occurs when they try to interact with you and others. You feel helpless and lost with the diagnosis, but you feel relieved that there is a name for the thing you have been dealing with for so long.
OCPD is the abbreviation for a group of mental symptoms that are collectively called obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Many people confuse OCPD with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). People can have both; however, OCPD is a pervasive condition that affects the person's entire life and all interactions. A person with OCPD may justify their rigidity and inflexibility using the morals and values their family instilled in them. They don't notice that their OCPD is causing a problem with their interactions with others. Instead they feel that other people aren't being reasonable....

Story
One of the main causes of OCPD or negative perfectionism is an internal lack of self-confidence. A child with OCPD parents was often told exactly what to do and what not to do. There was never any room for the child to make a mistake and learn from it, nor was there any room to test out new skills or try new things in a no-pressure situation. Due to this, you were not often given the ability to do things that would build up your own self-confidence.

Story
If you suffer from unwanted, intrusive, frightening, or even disturbing thoughts, you might worry about what these thoughts mean about you. Thoughts can seem like messages - are they trying to tell you something? But the truth is that they are just thoughts, and don’t necessarily mean anything. Sane and good people have them. If you are someone who is plagued by thoughts you don’t want - thoughts that scare you, or thoughts you can’t tell anyone about - this book may change your life.

What makes a good life? The question is inherent to the human condition, asked by people across generations, professions, and social classes, and addressed by all schools of philosophy and religions. This search for meaning, as Yale faculty Miroslav Volf, Matthew Croasmun, and Ryan McAnnally-Linz argue, is at the crux of a crisis that is facing Western culture, a crisis that, they propose, can be ameliorated by searching, in one’s own life, for the underlying truth.

Why is this a book….
I’m so disappointed that I spent money on what is basically a podcast (a short one at that). Plenty of YouTube videos and podcasts that are free! I’d recommend saving the $$

21m???
Why do we get charged for a 21 minute story? Content is good, but there isn’t much. Include other parts maybe?
