About this listen

Four destinies. One empire.

Nikia Idan, the daughter of Grand Contributors and wife of a reformer. She thought she lost everything to the Supreme Leader’s regime. But there’s always more to give - and more to lose.

Captain Drake Elgin, who swore to protect the people of Central. But what happens when the threat to the people is the Supreme Leader?

Tal Imari, a disgraced protector and prisoner on a frozen world. He sacrificed his career to uphold the law. Now, he’s learning that prison isn’t the worst that could happen. To save himself, he’ll have step outside the law, forever.

Brek Trigan, the miner who never meant to get mixed up in revolution. When Central abandons his colony to starvation and death, will his leadership be enough to save his people?

From the frozen prison planets to the glistening streets of Central, corruption and cruelty are tearing the Tribari Empire apart. Four unlikely heroes find themselves on a collision course as they work to save their worlds. If they can’t find a way to bridge their differences, there may be no empire left to protect.

The decisions of these few will change the fate of many.

Wonderful Story

I loved listening to these books! The narration was spot on and kept you engaged thru all the stories. This almost sounds like the American Revolution where we fought to get out from under a dictator. I cried a lot during portions of the story because of the cruelty and loss suffered by the people. All of the stories intertwine and you see some in the last book that you saw in the first book and so it goes. The stories were well written and kept you coming back for more. I love books by Rachel Ford and will continue to read her or listen to her stories in the future.

I received an advanced reader copy for an honest review.

An outstanding edge-of-your-seat read

Catalyst (Tribari Freedom Chronicles #1), my twenty-fourth (short, 47 pages/1-hour 16-minute) read from author Rachel Ford. No matter the genre a Rachel Ford book can be counted on to be entertaining & enjoyable. This one delves into the realm of Science Fiction & Fantasy.
Uprising (Tribari Freedom Chronicles #2), my twenty-fifth (193 pages/5-hour 10-minute) read from author Rachel Ford. No matter the genre a Rachel Ford book can be counted on to be entertaining & enjoyable. Now, this is what I expect from a Rachel Ford book, taking off seamlessly from book 1, building speed, and an ending that leaves you panting for the next book.
Liberation (Tribari Freedom Chronicles #3), my twenty-sixth (208 pages/5-hour 15-minute) read from author Rachel Ford.
Absolution (Tribari Freedom Chronicles #4), my twenty-seventh (407 pages/9-hour 15-minute) read from author Rachel Ford. No matter the genre a Rachel Ford book can be counted on to be entertaining & enjoyable. "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Jumps around too much and needs better narrator

Jumps around too much and Narrator over emphasizes the soft consonants
I am not sure which was more distracting, the fact that the story jumps around between different characters that appear for the most part unrelated, or the narrator's soft voice and stressing the soft consonants. Think making a Marvel movie jumping between snippets of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America for the most part, then throwing snippets towards the end of the first Avengers movie. The combination of the two made it hard for me to really get into the story or even keep track of what exactly is fully going on in the story.

THE COST OF FREEDOM IS DEEPER THAN ONE CAN BELIEVE

I received this audio book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Book 1: The Catalyst: This book leaves me wishing that things had ended differently. I didn’t want Brek to die and it reminded me of the police brutality and the marches that are going in this country today.

Book 2: Uprising: This story showed how the protectors in this world were much akin to the police today – good ones and seriously bad ones. The abuse of their power and their disdain for people’s lives had me getting angry. I lauded Grel’s sacrifice to keep Nikia safe. It had me near tears.

Book 3: Liberation: I liked the way Nik got the nerve to carry on Grel’s work without getting violent, although that hadn’t been her first thought. I also was relieved that Brek was brought back into the story. The introduction of Captain Elgin and his beliefs had me lauding the author’s ability to bring hope and faith back into a story that was becoming extremely maudlin. The reader’s hopes were uplifted and the deep melancholy that the stories were exuding was dissipated. Tal’s prison escape had me believing that things could work out. The evil perpetrated could be overcome.

Book 4: Absolution: This story shows how you have to finish what you started and that threats aren’t idle no matter the outcome. Governor Nees, Captain Elgin, Brek and Nikia have to make decisions that they never would have in the past.

The narration is weak and with the characters involved, a woman should not have been the narrator. Word pronunciations were terrible.
