The trouble indeed

The trouble was just what I needed. I loved the pine deep trilogy and found myself wanting more from the series. This helped to dig deeper into the spooky pine deep and show more about what happened to iron mike.

I like this one…

…better than the shorter ones that came after. Great characterisation, as usual; great narration by Ray Porter, as usual. I rate a story by how attached I get to the characters. You get the picture.

if you've read the Trilogy ...

Captivating, you want the end of that personal scene... you'll know which one I'm sure.

I love these characters!

I will never get tired of these characters. I wish there would be more novel length stories added to this series. Jonathon Maberry is a phenomenal horror writer and his take on vampires and werewolves is among the best I’ve seen.

Maberry & Porter Rock

Yet another short, intense, well-written, well-performed horror in Pine Deep. I only hope they come out with more.

Stop off for nightmares in Pine Deep.

"No. You have no idea what I am."

This story definitely requires you to have a pretty deep understanding of Jonathan's Pine Deep world, since it doesn't spend a lot of time explaining what's going on. If you do know that story, however, then "The Trouble" will fulfill a promise that was left with the conclusion of that trilogy.

"Iron" Mike Sweeney isn't a kid anymore, and when the monsters in the woods decide that they want to come out and terrorize his town, they find that the most terrifying monster of all lies inside of him, and they are definitely going to regret waking it up.

I got literal goosebumps as the final scene unfolded. I absolutely love Pine Deep, and this story felt like going back home to visit with old friends, albeit kicking some serious ass when we got there. I'm definitely going to listen to this again.

Great addition to the Pine Deep mythology and more connect the dots to Ink, which I dearly love.

Pretty good read.

I enjoyed this books, it was engaging and had me hooked, it's a pity this was so short. Jonathan Maberry is now a must read author. I loved these anthologies.
