About this listen

"He said if he hadn't heard from you by high noon today, he was going to strap on his six-guns and ride back into town. So I think you should call him, Charlie. Call him before you come home."

Charlie Hills, former desk sergeant at Kings Lake Central, is in trouble. He hasn't told Smith, his old friend and sparring partner, but someone has, and now the two former policemen are about to embark on a difficult and potentially dangerous search for the truth. For one of them, it could be life-changing.

Fabulous book, both author and narrator. I love this series. Humor and narrative are exquisitely rendered.

Fabulous

I adore all of Peter Grainger’s books! And I love DC Smith! His dry wit makes me laugh out loud and I love watching how he intelligently solves his cases This particular book is no exception, although the ending seemed a bit abrupt and surprising.

Love Peter Grainger , DC Smith and Gildart Jackson

I love this author's books i have listened to them more than once. I hope we get another soon. The humour is so subtle I find myself smiling every time I hear one. Highly recommend.

It's hard not to be thrilled when the latest DC Smith,. arrives because, after all, we're all old friends. I have to say though that this is the first time I've been just a little disappointed in the story. Maybe I'm just dense but there seemed to be a loose end concerning a mysterious reoccurring character. Saving for the next installment?

The customary wit and intrigue

A most human, capable, and reflective detective. More please. There is never enough DC David Smith.

I have become very fond of DC Smith in the course of this superb series. Thus I was much relieved to find he has survived the near fatal attack which ended the previous book, and continues to have new adventures. This was another engaging story with an unexpected twist.

Excellent story, surprise ending

I do love the DC Smith books. Granger puts the reader right next to Smith and the other characters. It is wonderful to listen to the humor as well as the tension. More in this series.

great book, as usual!
