About this listen

First contact changed things on Earth. It opened possibilities that were never before possible. In what started as a trip to participate in an cooperative study, Sara found herself a test subject for breeding compatibility by a species known as the Agraak. Determined that she would not submit to be bred and relocated to serve as a breeder for the rest of her life, she escaped into the wilds of a hostile subarctic planet. Not knowing who to trust, and almost dying on the ice flows, she is rescued by a male larger than life whom her body craves.

Vidok

A warrior-priest of the VaDorok, Vidok had long given up hope of finding his ulukska, his mate. When he finds a tiny female off-worlder on the ice flows of the far northern territory who brings forth his mating heat, his life changes. To keep her, he not only has to help her save her companions, but must also risk their love facing repercussions among his tribe and the intergalactic council.

Trigger-warning: the first two chapters contain elements involving rape.

Great story and interesting narration ;)

This is my first by SJ Sanders and I’m in love! Samantha is a fabulous writer and the plot kept moving so as to not drag. I liked the characters and interesting scenario each “alien” beings to the story (good or bad). I’m 100% going to continue buying the audiobooks for this series! I was a bit thrown off with the older voice of the narrator but it made me feel like he was a movie voice guy telling a story rather than the characters actually telling the story. Either way he was great to listen to.

I didn’t love the narration

It’s hard to rate the story for me, I found myself distracted by the voice that could be someone’s sweet grandpa, it just didn’t fit. I may pick up where I left off and finish sometime, but my I treat weaned by the halfway mark.

Great story, bad narration

The story was fascinating, but the narrative.. hmm how to put it. It was like having your grandfather reading a steamy romance to you , ughhhhh . That said I would definitely love to hear more stories in this series without grandpa reading it. He not bad just bad for this sort of story.

GREAT BOOK, WRONG NARRATOR

Why would you have an old man reading about romance? really kills the hot scenes. He has a nice voice - but NOT for this genre. I picture him reading about old wizards or something. Speeding up the player a bit helps. However, I loved the storyline and really wished I had listened to the preview before purchasing.

Lovely story, wrong narrator

I love, love all S. J. Sanders books. I have read them all. This story is great. I had already read it on Kindle and was looking forward to the narrated version. Big mistake! The narrator sounded old. I love sexy scenes but this narrator killed them for me. I almost had a heart attack when I heard voices of the Edoka’s and names pronunciation. The Edoka’s destiny is my favorite book and I have listened to it over 15 times but this guy killed my precious Edoka’s voices. I’m going to listen to the Edoka’s Destiny as soon as I an finished writing this review so I can erase those voices from my mind.

Hugely Entertaining!

I’m in so much trouble, I’m addicted to SJ Sanders! She can don no wrong. This particular book took me a moment to warm up to, I wasn’t really sure Sara and Vidok’s story would be interesting. I’m glad to say that I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did. I’ve purchased several books from SJSanders so I shouldn’t have doubted her. This book had drama, live, devotion, scheming and action in just the right doses! I would definitely recommend this audiobook! Definitely worth the cost and time!

you get used to the narrator

When I started this book I was turned off by the narrator. the voice seemed off putting for this type of story. I eventually got used to it as it's not a bad voice. plus the story was really good and made you invest in the story. there was a good plot consider this type of scifi romance can be hit or miss

Glad the narrator was changed for the next book

Good story but the narrator sounds like an 80 year old asthmatic alcoholic... not remotely sexy 😬 can’t wait to listen to book 2!

Intriguing story, voice actor😌

There are a lot of times when I have a difficult time listening to the voice of an actor in some of these books. Generally, I can’t relate to timber or annunciation, sometimes it’s an unnatural cadence or they whisper (gives me bad chills when it lasts too long). This actor made me feel like I was listening to my favorite grandparent talk dirty. It was a different experience. Aside from that I loved the story. This author is one of my favorites. I will automatically add her to my TBR lists. There is always unusual elements in her writings that keep me hooked into the story. I will listen to the next ones.
