About this listen

Some things are worth risking your life for.

When visitors arrive, Clara Valmont must make an entirely new agreement with the vampire she is indebted to in order to stay alive.

But even her brief reprieve might not be enough when something far more dangerous than a vampire comes to call.

Things between Clara and Alaric are not what they appear to be, and if anyone learns the truth, then it could spell death, for both of them.

Too little, too late.

This woman seems to have everything in the world to say with no reservations about it, EXCEPT WHEN IT COUNTS. The author makes her INFURIATINGLY daft to the point of almost not wanting to continue bothering with her. She doesn't speak up when she needs to the most but can't manage to keep her trap shut when she absolutely needs to. I can't understand what Alaric likes about her. I didn't like her throughout the entire first book and I can't manage to like her even now. She's a bigot in the strongest sense of the word, and although I understand why, it doesn't make it okay and it takes her far to long to understand the basic idea of individuals being different and not making subjective judgements based on characteristics out of someone's control. It's so annoying and petty. Not only that, but it takes a book and a half for her to admit she likes Alaric more than this Xander fool, and it makes me wonder just how bright she is. She acts foolish at every turn, not just in speech but also in action. The author has managed to make her entirely unlikeable as a person and heroine in the book. If she could manage to have more personality other than being a hateful creature, I'd actually like her a little, but it took far too long and it's too little too late now. I'm torn on whether I'll bother with the third book after this. I just can't find enough enjoyment in her horrible personality to care about her enough. Alaric on the other hand, I truly like. He's the only reason I stuck around this long, and I can't make my mind up on whether I should even give this woman a third chance to change her ways entirely and grow a personality outside of hateful, murderous shrew. That said, I gave it four stars because the performances of the narrators were amazing and I couldn't find it in myself to hate the book entirely.

Feels incomplete but good!

The story is okay. A good read while in a slump. My only issue with it, is that both books so far felt incomplete. Not because they end in cliff hangers, but because they just feel incomplete. The first 2 books should've been 1 book. There's not enough story for either to stand on its own.

Bummer the rest of the series isn't available on audio format yet because I feel like I just stopped in the middle of a book.

I would recommend this series, but I'd recommend waiting until the remaining books are available in audio if you're an audiobook lover.

***spoiler alert***
her not accepting the 3rd mark was just brutally annoying. I think if the book was longer it wouldn't have been so annoying. There was every reason for her to accept it and her delay just drove me insane. Still, this is a good story with good writing.

tHIS BOOK TOOK MY BREATH AWAY

Wow! This second book is just as good as the first. However, listening to this story, I remembered na old song perfect to describe this second book. The song say about lovers who denied They love. Look: “... i'm afraid to give you my heart, and confess that I'm in your hands (...) I walk away, I defend myself from you, but then I surrender.. I do things, I say things I’m not, but I denied. But the truth is, I'm crazy about you, and I'm afraid to think about losing you. It is necessary to accept that there is no more, to separate our lives (....)”
So thIS’S exactly what happens in this second book. While Clara and Aleric don't acknowledge their feelings, strong emotions await.

I love this vampire series 🧛‍♀️🧛‍♂️💘📚💖

it's one I enjoy it's not my top favourite but immensely enjoy it to the point I immediately buy or preorder when k see a new book in the series has been released. So, I definitely recommend this series to any vampire series fanatic 😊💕📚🧛‍♀️🧛‍♂️
I'll give you a hint this book is about a girl that leaves an abusive home and stole to get by to find out later a vampire takes her for her father's gambling debts so she hates him but actually he doesn't care it is because he smelled blood of a vampire and not any vampire his vampire made sister! In this book we find out if she gets her freedom ,does she want it and what happens next which as you might know doesn't stop in this title theres more too come so no pre judgments most authors cant afford audio unless the sales are extremely high and if you support this series or any then I suggest spreading the word about your favorite books everywhere you can think💖📚😊🧛‍♂️🧛‍♀️

Confused 😕

The sister is callus and selfish. The main character is an idiot. Talking when she should shut up and yaps when she should not. Aleric has the patience of a Saint. The narrators are AMAZING!!! Love it 90% because of them!

It gets better! Storyline is strong.

After listening to book one, I am more intrigued to complete the series and book two did not disappoint.
There was so much more to be learnt and the angst, pinning relationship between the two MC's was divine.
I felt that Lauren and Michael delivered this story brilliantly. Need to finish the series!.
