Publisher's summary

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Ephelia Moreau doesn't know she's in danger. All she knows is that her mothers up to something. Nothing new there. Her mother has been trying to dictate Ephie's life since the day she was born. So when an old boyfriend suddenly appears and tells Ephie about the cool little town he lives in, Ephie jumps on the chance to take a trip, not realizing she's doing exactly what her mother wants. Or what kind of trouble is headed her way.

Remy Lafitte wasn't supposed to be in New Orleans. He was only there to see a sick friend, but then the mother of a former girlfriend finds him and asks for his help. He cant refuse, and not just because her mother is threatening him. If Ephelia's in danger, Remy will do anything he can to protect her (and her cat). She was, after all, the only woman he's ever loved.

Ephie and Remy have a lot of catching up to do, but they may not get the chance when a real threat comes to Nocturne Falls. Suddenly, Ephie's life hangs in the balance and Remy must make a decision. Even if it means breaking his own heart again.

Nocturn Falls books are fabulous.

If you enjoy cozy mysteries, the Nocturn Falls series is definitely one to check out. The world building is amazing and the characters and their inter relationships make these book pure joy to listen to.
In this latest book by Kristen Painter is the 15th in the series written by her, the originator and concept developer. She was kind enough to open the series up to a bunch of other authors, allowing them to write in her world, introduce new characters who interact with her original cast of characters and live and work in Nocturn Falls.
Nocturn Falls is a destination town that is themed by Halloween 365 days per year. It is also a supernatural town that real supernaturals get to be themselves and the tourists think they are actors.
This book, The Vampire's Former Flame is about Sheriff's Deputy Remy Lafette, grandson to the famous New Orleans pirate. Remy and Ophelia were college sweethearts. Though as a vampire Remy was only auditing courses of interest since he is already 200+ years old. Ophelia only 19 human years old, even though she is a fire witch. Things go bad when Remy proposes, and they are both wrecked by it.
Twelve years later they are thrust together again by her mother, inspire of her pure hatred of vampires.
There is a lot of tension from being together and Remy's responsibility to keep Ophelia safe from a jailed voodoo boss with a large crew to do his bidding on the outside.
It is a fun, quick listen, you'll find excuses to listen all the way through.
Narrator B.J. Harrison has narrated all of the Nocturn Falls stories regardless of the author, which is a stroke of genius, lending continuity.
I enjoy this town so much, I wish I could live there. So looking forward to any new books in this series.

As always...

As always, Kristin weaves an enchanting tale that brings the supernatural into a relatable real world. A world that many dream of living in permanently. And BJ supplies his own magical voice to the tapestry. His skill with accents has enchanted me from book one. Thank you to all involved in this collection. I count myself a richer person because of it.

Cute new addition to the series!

This was cute! What I love about this series is I know, even with all the trials and unhappy moments, that there will always be a happy ending. Plus like this one I think has the cutest cat so far~!

Another great adventure in Nocturne Falls

It's time to go back to Nocturne Falls! While this is book 16, if you haven't read the series yet this can be a standalone.

Kristen has written another fun and exciting adventure for us as we get to know Remy (the vampire deputy) and his ex, Ephelia, a fire witch. Their love story takes us through some history, but is heartwarming and sweet.

As always, thre are plenty of fun characters, including those we've met previously. We get new magical information to add to the world of Nocturne Falls. And there is an absolutely adorable cat to keep us on our toes through the entire story! This little guy is extra special.

B.J. Harrison does a fantastic job with narration. His smooth voice is wonderful to listen to, and his character voices and acting skills keep listeners engaged.

If you love fantasy, romance, adventure and a feisty feline then check out Nocturne Falls and this latest installment!

Spice Level: 🌶️ (1/5) Kissing, romance, no coarse language, no intimate scenes

The Vampire's Former Flame!! Yes!

I've been waiting for a story on Remy and after listening to this one, Remy Lafitte is most definitely my favorite of the Nocturne Falls vampires! The story starting out in New Orleans caught my attention right away. The characters are all interesting and introducing Ephelia, his former flame, and her mom and others gave even more interest in the story. Throw in Ephie's cat, no spoilers but how fun and adorable is he?, This story moves to Nocturne Falls and from there was full of intrigue, danger, love, relationships and a perfect ending... I couldn't ask for more! I've listened to this numerous times already and can't get enough!
