About this listen
“No, no, we cannot marry. That is absurd.”
Grace Stanton is beautiful, vivacious, and no innocent when it comes to men. Her carefree, happy life is disrupted when her family is summoned to the bedside of her grandfather, the dying Earl of Stanton, in England. There, circumstances force her into a marriage with the last person she ever thought to marry—Benedict Sedgwick, the newly appointed parish curate who wears threadbare clothes and blushes in the presence of women.
For Benedict, it is infatuation at first sight when he meets Grace Stanton, but he knows that the wealthy beauty is well out of his reach. That is until one day, she comes knocking at his door asking for help, and he cannot help but propose marriage as a way out of her dilemma.
Can a poor, inexperienced, and ordinary-looking curate win Grace’s heart when she yearns for a dashing man of the world, someone like her new neighbor, the handsome Mr. Templeton?
Author’s note: This is a sweet, steamy, and dramatic historical romance set in Victorian England featuring a marriage of convenience between two unlikely characters, a beautiful vixen and a virtuous clergyman, who nevertheless find themselves falling in love.

Story
Lady Margaret has devoted herself to taking care of her young siblings and the estate while her half-brother fritters away the family fortune. Upon Edwin's death, she learns he has left them destitute and, worst of all, at the mercy of a notorious and cruel rake. Lord Nicholas would much rather be pursing women for quick sport rather than taking care of a headstrong debutante without any prospects, as well as her siblings. But Edwin saved his life once, and now he owes him a debt. Fortunately, all he has to do is find Meggy a husband, and his debt will be paid.

Story
Reverend Augustus Shackleford's mission in life (aside from ensuring the collection box was suitably full every Sunday) was to secure advantageous marriages for each of his eight daughters. A tall order, given the fact that in the Reverend's opinion they didn't possess a single ladylike bone in the eight bodies they had between them. Quite where he would find a wealthy titled gentleman bottle headed enough to take any of them on remained a mystery and indeed was likely to test even his legendary resourcefulness.

WOW the 2nd is More Risque Than The First Book
Holy Smokes! This one is scorching with it's intimate scenes, just the way I like them. It's 1860 and this story is about the niece to the main characters in book one, 25 years later in America. All the family is here but it's 18 year old promiscuous Grace's story. Knocked up by a married man on the ship from America back to England, Grace finds refuge in the kind, soft spoken vicar's curate Benedict the virgin. The book gave me a few OMG gasps and I'm half way through listening.
And I absolutely LOVE Philip Battley. These 2 books remind me so much of his readings of Emma V. Leech's series Rogues and Gentlemen. When 2 opposites come together and the ending is very happy.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
