About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Carolyn Brown comes a heartwarming short story about how the most precious gifts come in unexpected packages.

A week before your wedding is no time for your ex to ride back into town, stirring up trouble. But that’s exactly the predicament Darla McAdams finds herself in. With practically the entire town of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, in attendance, the last place she wants to be is at her grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary party with the whole family, her fiancé and her old flame all in the same room.

Darla’s grandmother Roxie has seen many a bride tested, and she knows Darla is at a crossroads. It’s time to share the truth about Roxie’s own marriage to Darla’s grandfather - and the gift that saved their marriage so many years ago. By revealing secret after secret, the most startling involving a television set, Roxie gives Darla a wedding gift she’ll cherish forever, but only Darla can listen to what’s inside her heart and know who she’s meant to say “I do” to.

Short Read

Hard to build characters in such a short book. Straightforward, no plot twists. Not a page turner.

A little corny

The story is very predictable and corny. The reader is good though. I just kept waiting for something to happen.

if it's free and you have a little time to spare

The story was fine, just not that exciting or engaging, perhaps because I'm used to longer books it just seemed like things were just getting started by the time it was ending.

Romantic with a Test

I would recommend this book. Teens would like it. And there is no potty mouth language. I love the relationship between granny snd Darla. Narrative okay. Wish a guy could’ve done the make figures. But it was still a great book. And not too long which I liked.

Cute but cheesy

If you like gushy little love stories you will enjoy this. Cute and simple, a little cheesy for my taste.

Thoroughly delightful!!

A thoroughly delightful mini romance from an author whose books I really enjoy! I love her stories about life in a small southern town where everyone knows your name and the gossip chain becomes a hand-me-down from generation to generation. I especially enjoyed Brittany Pressley’s superb performance. If I didn’t know better I would think she had half a dozen helpers in the booth with her.

The Wedding Gift

I enjoyed this book about family and relationships before a wedding and all the funny stories that our grandparents tell us. The narrator did a great job expressing all the characters in this story.
