About this listen

A completely twisty and unputdownable psychological thriller

I’m lying to the man I’m about to marry. I’m not the woman he thinks I am. But my secret’s safe. Isn’t it?

I feel like the perfect bride as I drift across the beach toward my handsome new husband, the sand warm between my toes, my ivory slip wedding dress showing off my suntan. Today is the beginning of my new life. My dark past can no longer touch me.

When I reach my husband, we kiss against the perfect backdrop of the shimmering turquoise sea. The congregation claps, and I turn to smile at them.

Then my smile freezes. I see him. Sitting there among my loved ones. An uninvited guest who knows the truth about me and the terrible thing that happened 10 years ago. The man who won’t ever let me be happy.

And as he steps forward, asking for everyone’s attention, my legs buckle. I know he wants to destroy my perfect new life.

But how can I stop someone who will never let me go? And how far will I go to keep my secrets?

A gripping and jaw-dropping thriller with twists to die for. If you love Lisa Jewell, K.L. Slater, and Daniel Hurst, you’ll love The Wedding Guest.

Wow….the ending will get you!

Story was a little repetitive and got annoying. But once the end cam I understood why the story repeated itself. The ending alone is worth the listen

Genius! Edge-of-your-seat. Don’t miss this one.

A must-listen for fans of wicked psychological thrillers. And to top it off, it’s British as well! Kathryn Croft crafts another brilliant book, and is joined by the vocally gifted Naomi Frederick. No stranger to these two talented women, I craved this much-needed audiction from the very start to the finale. Secrets from the past kept me enthralled as an uninvited guest from the bride’s past surprisingly shows up at her wedding. Christian plays a deceitful game, worrying newly married Emily and those she holds dear. Croft’s accomplished writing style takes from the past to present with adept precision, keeping me anxiously anticipating more. Emily’s new happy life… Christian’s dangerous and insidious plans… revenge for what? I didn’t know. I’ll leave no spoilers here. So highly recommended and worth a cherished credit. “The Wedding Guest” is indeed a favorite listen during my seven years with Audible. An awesome nod to Croft and Frederick for serving up this nefarious and fiendish tale with a twist of an ending! Pay attention! I was multitasking {{{{a big no-no}}} and had to go back. I’ll most definitely be on the lookout for more by this perfectly matched duo. (Also searching by narrator has helped me immensely.) And yes, I’m shouting from the rooftop, “Epic, I say, EPIC! EPIC! EPIC!”

Had me entertained mostly

There were some loose threads, gaping holes in plot points, and an unrealistic surprise ending, but with suspended disbelief, it mostly entertained me.

Another great novel from Kathryn

A novel that will not let you figure it out till the end. A little dragged out in the middle and a little far fetched, but very fun!

Surprising

For the majority of the book I honestly believed that Emily killed her mother out of kindness to end her suffering. I didn’t like Christian and how he treated her throughout the listen. Even when the before was described he wasn’t very likable. I guess when it came down to it, it was about perception. I enjoyed the listen but to me it was a story that I could walk away from for a day and not be eager to get back to it. Had a good ending though. It was worth a listen and a credit.

ugh. Unbelievable and painful

From the moment the bride goes out for a drink with another man on her wedding night,,,, you know the story is going to be badly constructed. The reader does voices and the one for the child is so painfully whiny you'll reach for the off button.. Right to the end. the characters are heavyhanded examples of their personality flaws and the expected twist at the end creates a lot of inconsistenies in the earlier scenes.. Skip it.
