Publisher's summary

A chilling psychological thriller for fans of Gillian Flynn, Nicci French, Sophie Hannah, S. J. Watson and Elizabeth Haynes that will haunt you long after you've finished listening....

In this dark psychological thriller, Olivia Taylor believes she has suffered the worst life can throw at her after the breakup of her marriage. Full of hope, she starts a new life with her nine-year-old daughter, Ellie, only to find the worst is yet to come.

Meeting Michael Crossman is the beginning of an unspeakable nightmare for Olivia, and her world slowly unravels. It is only through the retelling of her story that we piece together what has led her to become a mere shadow of the woman she once was.

mainly long romance

I found this book to be boring. It is mainly a ridiculous long love story with lots of sex scenes. The woman who is the main character has no self worth or confidence. I figured out the supposedly shocking ending quite soon into the book and to me it seemed quite obvious. Read the whole book hoping for a twist I wasn't expecting only to be dissatisfied by the end and unsurprisingly it was the twist I was expecting.

Dissappointed

What did you like best about Behind Closed Doors? What did you like least?

I can't really point out anything I liked best. What I liked least is that it fell short of her other books.

What was most disappointing about Kathryn Croft’s story?

Really it just wasn't up to par with her other books, which I did enjoy.

lifetime movie material

Was good, a little drawn out but at the end seemed rushed, left me wanting to know more about what happened to some characters at the end.

Not really a psychological thriller

I don't really know how I feel about this book. The characters were weak and the story was flimsy. And the first half was more reminiscent of Fifty Shades. I was happy when the book ended so I could move on to something better (hopefully).

Emding falls short<br />

I really enjoyed listening to this book, but when the plot and ending all came together, it was too much, too quick! It felt like the author was suddenly on a deadline and had to end it quickly. I felt like too many things were left undone. I needed more.

Wow!!

I kind of expected some of the plot but the ending was intense. Love this author and the reader. This is my 5th title by her. This is a great read.

Title should be "Why Am I So Stupid?"

Okay I get how lust can make you do really stupid things but for God's Sake why would you trust these freaks with your kid.

Fantastic ending...just took too long to get there

This is the third Kathryn Croft book I have listened to. I think she is a fantastic, suspense writer, and the first two books, I just LOVED. This one is still her great character development and twist and turns, but I really didn't start getting interested until about midway through. It felt like it took so long to "grab my attention". To be honest, if this hadn't been a Kathryn Croft book, I probably would have given up, but I just love her so much that I wanted to really give it a chance. Now, the last quarter of the book was fantastic! Left me on the edge of my seat and I LOVED the surprise ending. I know it's a lot to ask, but I want that feeling the whole way through a book...not just the last part.

Side note: The narrator was great!
