About this listen

"Matt, I need a war."

So begins David Baldacci's new book - a thriller unlike any he's written before.

"Matt" is Mathew Pender, of Pender Associates - a shadowy organization that specializes in managing seemingly impossible situations for its clients. Sometimes, those services extend to managing - and creating - armed conflict.

When Matt Pender is asked by his client - the largest defense contractor in the world - to manipulate two nations against each other, a shocking and surprising series of events is set in motion that will possibly bring the world to the brink of World War III.

In this epic thriller with a global backdrop, David Baldacci delivers all the twists and turns, compelling characters, and can't-put-it-down pacing that listeners have come to expect from this master storyteller.

Shaw or Sean, very much the same

Enjoyable story but a little predictable - Boy meets girl... I like most of Baldacci's books, but I ask myself why create a new character, Shaw, who is so much like Sean (a previous character) of "Simple Genius"? And a story that is so obviously designed for ongoing sequels. At least Simple Genius offered a few unforeseen twists and turns which this book (Whole Truth) did not.

Great fast moving story

Terrific story and fast moving. I listen to a lot of audio books and the whole truth has some very gripping moments and a few surprises.

Another good read

Government conspiracy, action, romance, This book has it all. Baldacci does another great job of writing a compelling book that’s hard to put down.

Pulp fiction at its tackiest.

Over the top plot, shallow characters, clichés galore; it all just sophomoric bad writing. I rarely write reviews, only bothering to do so for truly exceptionally good books, in this, a first, for an exceptionally bad one, Hope it will help save some discerning readers’ time. My apologies to the author, I’m sure he iwill be crying all the way to the bank.

The whole truth is half a story

I detest abridged stories, and this is no exception. What has been omitted exceeds what has been included, and the reader/listener has been victimized by the creators of half a story
