About this listen

Welcome to Enchanted Bay, a picture-perfect small town on the coast of Northern California.

Meg Walton comes from a long line of witches. It's a secret her family has been keeping for generations. The Waltons have been living a quiet existence, running the local donut shop in town. All that changes when a murder occurs.

Enter Connor Smith, Meg's former crush, who left for San Francisco 10 years before, and who has now returned to town as the new detective with the Enchanted Bay police department. If Meg's feelings were mixed enough over having Connor back in town, the detective wrongfully suspects one of Meg's good friends for murder.

To prove her friend's innocence, Meg has to find the real killer herself - with the help of a few good spells.

Cozy Mystery

The story is not really believable and I am not talking about the spell either. That is why I gave it three stars but I did like the narrator.
Would I listen or read the next in the series? Yes I would. This sort of book is easy on the brain. So if you want to get away from things without having to use your brain cells as much then this book is for you.

Murder

An old boyfriend back in town, a murder and a little bit of witchery, what a nice combination.

Enchanted Donuts

So, yeah, the old cops and donuts thing is played with, and the usual amateur trying to act like CSI plus interrogate suspects, but the witchy twist in this case is she actually employs spells (doing her best to stay under the radar) and a reasonable intellect, paying attention to the answers to her questions to dope out the killer. Surprisingly I actually picked up on the key words myself as I listened to narrator Lainie Pahos entertain me. And I am definitely jealous of the inspired metabolism-regulating donuts!

Great Fun Clean Cozy Mystery

we have a young witch with a sweet tooth who owns a donut shop. No one knows she is a witch. Lucky she is like some of my coworkers she doesn't hain weight. Many believable and likable characters, you have a renewed clean romance starting with an old boyfriend. Meg decides she is going to clear her name. She uses light magic. Her grandma at the time of death transferred her soul back into the cat. So it talks. The narration is good by Lainie Pahos and maintains your interest till the end of the book. You have to read to see who did it. Thisvisca great quick family night book. I enjoyed this book.

The Witches of Enchanted Bay

This was a delightful tale of a murder, witches, a talking cat, and a plot that keeps you guessing "who done it". If you like cozy mysteries narrated by an excellent narrator I recommend this audiobook.

Fun, Cozy, and Short

I really enjoy listening to and discovering new authors and narrators. Amelia Morgan wrote a fun cozy mystery that is pure escapism and delightful to listen to. I know its not possible to cast spells, and so the escapism begins. The basis of the book is full of good intentions, there is chemistry, and a satisfactory ending. I thought the performance by Lainie Pahos was great. She gave characters distinguishable voices. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Fun start to a cozy mystery series.

I've tried to post this review multiple times, but for some reason while the rating stick the review doesn't, so lets try this again.

This first book in the Witches of Enchanted bay series is a fun if perhaps a bit too straight forward cozy mystery that introduces us to Meg, a witch who works in a donut shop. The story of the book revolves mainly around Meg's best friend being accused of murder and Meg attempting to find the real killer. There is a minor subplot the revolves around a romantic interest, which I am sure will be explored more in future volumes. My main issue with the story is that it's too straight forward. What do I mean? Well, it's mainly Meg interviewing one suspect after another, would be nice to have a little filler, and the mystery itself was too easy to figure out. But overall it was a fun.

Lainie Pahos' narration is pretty good. I really enjoyed her main narration voice and the various voices she used for the male characters, but a few of the voices she gave to some of the female characters were a bit grating, especially the voice she gave Meg's best friend. She sounds like a she's 4 years old. It's not a deal breaker, but I'd have just as happy if she hadn't even bothered trying to give each character their own voice.

Overall I enjoyed the book, but this is a perfect example of why I wish half stars were allowed. I'd have given all the categories 3.5, but since that isn't possible I gave the performance and story 3 stars and the overall 4 stars. I'd definitely read another of Ms. Morgan's book (already have a few on my kindle) and I be more than happy to listen to Ms. Pahos again.

I received a copy of this audio title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

Cute witchy mystery

This book was a cute mystery with a few twists and turns along the way. I did enjoy it..
When a murder happens in Enchanted Bay, Meg (the witch) needs to help solve it before her very best friend is framed for it. In walks her ex-boyfriend, Connor, who is a policeman who just moved back to Enchantment Bay...
