About this listen

Mistakes, regrets, and murder.

Denver homicide detective Nick Ryan and Elizabeth Harper have a history of passionate mistakes and broken trust. They haven’t seen each other in five years after she married the man he despised. Now, her husband is dead, and the evidence points to her as the killer.

The woman Nick used to know wouldn’t have killed anyone. But she’s the prime suspect and has many reasons to want her husband dead. Hasty decisions have brought Nick and Elizabeth to a strange and bloody crossroads. He’s worried his feelings for her will help her get away with murder, and she’s worried they’ll land her in prison.

I liked everything about this. The pacing was so methodical that it kept me on the edge of investing in any of the relationships, which I love.
The narrator is almost too good. I would get distracted by his voice and have to go back. This too is a good thing.
Thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Engaging and entertaining.

This was my first experience with Helen Starbuck's work, and I enjoyed it. The story was about a wife accused of murdering her husband, and the detective investigating the crime, who once was friends with the couple. The tale was complex and vacillated between the old question of did she do it or did she not, and the viewpoint of the wife and the detective. Connor Brannigan's narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Fascinating Mystery

I’m a newbie to mysteries. Really enjoyed listening to this story! The Author keeps the reader in suspense most of the book. A perfect amount of drama, mystery and a little steamy romance.
Connor’s voice was so easy on the ears. I really enjoyed his reading!
