About this listen

The chilling sequel to the international bestselling novel The Woman in Black

It's Autumn of 1940, and German bombs are destroying the cities of Britain as WWII takes its toll on Europe. In London, children are being removed from their families and taken to the country for safety. Teacher Eve Parkins is in charge of one such group, and her destination is an empty and desolate house that appears to be sinking into the tidal marshes that surround it.

Its name is Eel Marsh House.

Far from home and with no alternative, Eve and the children move in. But it soon becomes apparent that there is someone else in the house; someone who is far deadlier than anything that would face the children in the city. She's called "The Woman in Black," and she won't rest until she has her revenge...

Critic reviews

" The Woman in Black is back, and she is just as terrifying in this sequel as she was in Susan Hill's creepy classic.... Brilliantly claustrophobic and utterly chilling, Angel of Death is genuinely jump-out-of-your-seat frightening." ( Daily Mail)

I liked the story but the narrator ..

The narrator could of way better for the story, made it more scarier, more spooky.

MUST READ IF YOU READ THE ORIGINAL WOMAN IN BLACK

I listened to the Woman In Black by Susan Hill and loved it...I wondered what else she had out there and this came up when I searched the title...I thought, no, no - not Martyn Waites - Susan Hill...Well, as it turns out, yes, yes! Martyn Waites! This is a fantastic follow-up to Susan Hill's original...The story, the narration, and best of all - the opportunity for even more!

Narrator is very talented. A wonderful read as she brought the characters to life. If you love horror stories, this one you shouldn't miss.

So-So Story w Good Narration

I listened to this right after finishing the original Woman in Black, and that affected my opinion of this story. It’s immediately clear the writing is not as good as Susan Hill’s - the characters do things that don’t make sense and are rather annoying and the Woman in Black is not as scary. I almost stopped listening several times. However, the narration was pretty good and it was fun to hear the same context in a different time. In short, it was fine.
