About this listen

In the foreboding north, the demonic hordes of the magic-twisted hellscape known as the Worldwound encroach upon the southern kingdoms of Golarion. Their latest escalation embroils a preternaturally handsome and coolly charismatic swindler named Gad, who decides to assemble a team of thieves, cutthroats, and con men to take the fight into the demon lands and strike directly at the fiendish leader responsible for the latest raids - the demon Yath, the Shimmering Putrescence. Can Gad hold his team together long enough to pull off the ultimate con, or will trouble from within his own organization lead to an untimely end for them all?

Great Story, horrible narration

This is probably one of the hardest books I’ve listened to since getting audible to get through.

The narration is choppy, monotone, and pronunciation is off on a lot of what would be very clearly main Pathfinder RPG characters, places, and deities.

The story is wonderful, very classically paced with surprises and twists from a group of rogues, thieves that are the best kind of hero RPG’s need.

rogues vs demons

this is a though book to get through with all the demons doing terrible things but the characters make it worth it.

Would be an awesome movie

A great fantasy story that bends the genre in a fresh way! Oceans Eleven meets pathfinder.

Very intresting setting and cast. Good performance. Enjoyed it from start until the end. Selfcontained story.

Interesting tale with some bad pronunciation

The performer for this novel had a lot of trouble pronouncing some of the words. I can understand fantasy names being a stumbling block (even though there are pronunciation guides on the Pathfinder Wiki). But he mispronounced words like "ebon", "ichor", and "promontory". After a while they really stood out. Also, his female voices tended to blend together whereas his male voices were very distinct. I probably wouldn't listen to this narrator again.

IT'S A HEIST!

Fantasy heist stories are always interesting! The characters have a lot of personality and I was invested in seeing what could possibly go wrong!

Outstanding Narratiom

I was thrown a bit by the author’s use of present tense…maybe it’s just me. But the narrator provided an outstanding performance/characterization of all the characters. Looking forward to more books narrated by Noah Michael Levine!

Not My Style

This is story, unlike the others of its like, is written in a very abbreviated manner. Actions are quick and not described as intricately as the other tales (see Redemption Engine). The main character is very likeable and the backup characters make you think of Ocean's Eleven. The narrator did a great job with Kerrigan and Gad.

For some reason Caliyard (sp) sounds somewhat like Lando Calrissian. I actually liked that choice.

I recommend anything narrated by Steve West in the Tales series. Also the Liars Blade series is well done with likeable characters.

I also look forward to see more from this author to see if all the books are written similar or if they are more descriptive.
