Publisher's summary

A victim. A mutilated body. A single word.

A young woman is found dead on the streets of London. Her throat slashed, her body mutilated, and one word carved into her flesh: “DON’T.”

Detective Superintendent Ray Paterson is assigned to the case. Young, handsome and from a wealthy background, he’s tipped for the top. He joins a team based out of Bermondsey, South London. It’s meant to be a stepping stone to his next promotion, but this case will threaten to bring down his career and everything he thought he knew about policing.

Paterson is put in charge of the dead girl's investigation and quickly discovers he must rely on his friend and mentor, Detective Sergeant Dave Jordan to guide him through.

Then another body is discovered. Another word cut into the victim’s chest.

The police realise they may have a depraved serial killer on their hands. The murderer is trying to send them a message carved in his victims’ bodies. But who’s the message really for?

How many more must die? Detective Paterson may be the only man who can stop this vile killer...if he can survive long enough.

This is the first in a series of action-packed, edge-of-your-seat crime thrillers, with an ending that will have your heart in your mouth.

Perfect for fans of Kimberley Chambers, Damien Boyd, Rachel Abbott, Patricia Gibney or Martina Cole.

No, just no

I don't normally give anything a rating like this. It's awful, I won't get into the exact parts that are removed because it's crude and not believable. I'm not a prude about anything, but the language used in this is excessive. It's fine if it makes sense to the character or story, it doesn't here.

The story is sophomoric and horribly ridiculous. An extremely rich, extremely good looking guy becomes a chief superintendent. Plus married to a model, really?

The narrator isn't great. The way he makes the characters sound is, again, ridiculous. Maybe it gets better in the last 3 hours, I don't know because I couldn't get further than that.

Boring and badly performed

Boring and badly performed says it all. Could not get through the first chapter and won’t be reading anymore books by this author or read by the narrator.

"F" really?

I enjoyed the story but really, it's so so sad the english language is so wasted. I mean as though the best you can do is keep using one word. Over and over and over and over. See what I mean? O well....

You Lost Me On This Series With The Narrator

Psychotic blood bath aside, profanity in at scathing level put in perspective,..
I cannot forgive the choice of narrator for this series… gravely, nasal, corrosively smarmy… ugh,.. not to be endured…

Good except for excessive swearing

I didn’t make it through this book because of all the bad language. It was just too much. I’ve never stopped reading a book because of the language, but this one was just not worth it. When I did listen to was interesting and exciting, and I think the plot was good.
