About this listen

Officer Jake Silverstone was content to be alone and only hooking up to satisfy his needs. He’d already had the love of his life and after he gave his heart away 12 years ago and had it shattered into a million pieces, knew he would never risk that kind of pain again.

Cody Kidd made the biggest mistake of his life when he allowed his father to send him away from the man he loved. Now that his father was dead and buried, he could return to the man who still owned his heart. The most he could hope for was forgiveness, but he was determined to have more because without the love of his life, he really had no life at all.

This book contains M/M sexual situations and is intended for listeners of legal age in the country in which they reside.

enjoyable read

At 1st I was a bit unsure of this book, but like a good little reader I kept on with it. and I was happy that I did. Jacob & Cody had it all when they were younger but things happened and 1 left while 1 stayed. As these two come back together they realize that distance away from each other couldn't kill the love.

Ruined by narration

No pauses after sentences. No pauses between paragraphs. No inflections. No emotions whatsoever. The only thing good about the narrator is that he could read.

I've enjoyed reading near a dozen Cothern books, this is the first one I had to listen to instead of read. I was intensely disappointed. Its hard to judge the story when the narration was so bad but I've put it on my to be read later list so I'm rating the story a 4 for now.

Yawn. And I normally love Brenda Cothern.

Very predictable story. Didn't even seem like it was part of the Guns and Hoses series. All-new side characters and nobody from the previous books. No interesting plot.

Poor narrator made lame story worse.

Main characters act like hormonal teenagers instead of mature, functional adult cops.

Narrator is horrible. Stilted, robotic, and painful to listen to. Think of a robot, programmed to sound like the titular characters from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, reading a weakly written bodice-ripper out loud for the first time.

Yeah...
