About this listen

Theodore Boone is back in a new adventure, and the stakes are higher than ever....

When his best friend, April, disappears from her bedroom in the middle of the night, no one, not even Theo Boone - who knows April better than anyone - has answers. As fear ripples through his small hometown and the police hit dead ends, it's up to Theo to use his legal knowledge and investigative skills to chase down the truth and save April.

Filled with the kind of pause-resistant suspense that has made John Grisham a number-one international best seller and the undisputed master of the legal thriller, Theodore Boone's trials and triumphs will keep listeners guessing until the very end.

Would you consider the audio edition of Theodore Boone: The Abduction to be better than the print version?

Did not read the print version.

What other book might you compare Theodore Boone: The Abduction to and why?

Just the rest in the series. It was a little corny, but I can understand it.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Judge got involved.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

I like the characters, Ike, especially.

Entertaining.

John Grisham, with his Theo Boone series, has proven again that he's a master of the legal genre, and that he can even make it fun for younger readers.
Richard Thomas does a good job of reading, without trying to fake a bunch of character voices.

Good Grisham for Kids!

These are great teen and pre-teen books about law and the justice system. They hold the attention of the young people and while a tale is spun, they may actually learn some things about our judicial system. Great to read or listen, clean and appropriate for the young audience.

Would you listen to Theodore Boone: The Abduction again? Why?

Yes I would listen to this book again because I love John Grishams writing style.

What other book might you compare Theodore Boone: The Abduction to and why?

There could be no comparison with another write because John Grisham has got such a wonderful writing skill, no one could compare to his books.

What does Richard Thomas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Richard Thomas brought strength to the book in the way he spoke, he has a wonderful voice and that helped in being interested at all times.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

With my schedule it is hard to listen to books in one sitting but I found myself at home listening at great lengths.

Any additional comments?

I am looking forward to John Grishams next book and hoping that Richard Thomas will be the one to read.

Excellent

Would you listen to Theodore Boone: The Abduction again? Why?

This is an interesting book, and I would listen to it again. I often listen the second time while traveling in my car; and even if some of the story is missed because of distractions, it isn't necessary to back it up to follow the continued action.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Theodore Boone is the star of this series and is my favorite character because of his attention to detail and procedural knowledge of the law.

Have you listened to any of Richard Thomas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Richard Thomas does a good job narrating the story and placing emphasis where needed. He has a well modulated voice and a steady reading/telling pace. I listen to all audio books at 1.5 speed - and don't miss a word of his messages - he doesn't sound like Donald Duck at that speed. I would listen to him again - he is an asset to your organization.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Theodore is an in-charge character, and some of his sound judgments are indeed amusing.

Interesting Storyline, Good Plot

Any additional comments?

We listened to book 1 last summer on a car trip, and my son (who normally tolerates the car trip audio book) has been asking about more Theo on a regular basis. With another long trip planned, I downloaded book 2, and he was thrilled. Theo remains a solidly good kid - a loyal friend, respectful son, and budding lawyer. The secondary characters add interest and humor, since Theo and his parents are pretty straight-laced. We have book 3 ready for listening on the ride back home. Definitely worth the credit (or just purchase) as a family listen (upper elementary/middle school).

One of the few series my 10 year old son enjoys...
