Bossy, impulsive, yet hopelessly romantic, Agatha is dreading the upcoming marriage of her ex-husband, James Lacey. Although she has set her sights on a handsome and beguiling new Frenchman, she can't quite stop obsessing about James. Agatha always makes me smile

The books are light listening. There is a plot. There is a story. But it is the character of Agatha Raisin that makes me keep coming back to these books.

i live this series, but I am wondering if Beaton is starting to pad her endings so the books are long enough. read in order.

Delightful as usual

Agatha Raisin takes us on a faster than usual roller coaster ride of murders and mayhem. She spends the entire book doubting her skills as a detective as well as her appearance as an “old” woman in her fifties. She questions a each of her relationships with men starting. With her ex-husband James but in the finale she has settled on one at least for now

Contains everything you love about Agatha Raison.

This book has few surprises for the regular reader of the series, except the identity of the murderer of course, but has everything you've come to love about, and look forward to, in an Agatha Raison book. Enjoyable book and great reading by the inimitable Penelope Keith.

Narrator Penelope Keith

The absolute best narrator ever - Penelope Keith bring Agatha Raisin to life - the only way I can envisage her. Stories are excellent - funny - very whodunit - and then the voice is 10/10 - nothing better in my opinion.

Easy-listening Cozy

I really enjoy cozy mysteries, and have listened to many (though not all) of the Agatha Raisin series. This one stays true to form - Agatha is her usual brusque and bossy self. She does seem to have gained a degree of maturity and self-awareness over the course of the series, which is nice (especially since she is in her fifties).

The story was good; sort of predictable, and I did figure out "who-dunnit" before the climax, but that's fine. I enjoy these stories for their comfortable setting, familiar characters, and general lack of gruesome violence.

One problem that I had, and that sort of gave a bit of the plot away, was the narrator. She was mostly pretty good, actually - but she got a few things wrong; namely, doing a French accent for a character who we only "discover" later can speak French. So - basically, we, the listener, knew of this character's French connection prior to the other characters in the novel.

It was a good listen, though, and worth the credit if you are into British cozies.
